How'd the TEs look yesterday? Any prospects you're impressed with?

Don't know what breakdown you're talking bout. Combine or what?

I'm just speaking off watching him play. Sure, bad ball placement can hurt...but watching him in game, he'd also drop easy passes thrown right into his chest. Ripped straight from his NFL draft profile page...

"... Inconsistent hands over two years at Miami. Focus drops were a problem. Had eight drops over last two seasons for drop rate over 11 percent "

The dude has insane potential...but he's an athletic freak still learning the position and how to catch a football.

Tell me, when did Njoku begin having good playing time? Tell me, I want you to compare his drop rates towards the beginning of the season and to the end.

You'll notice he started dropping less when he stopped trying to run before catching.

He doesn't have as bad hands as some make him out to have.

That sounds like a little hair splitting. I think that it's kind of a difficult sell to split the season between early and later in regards to dropping the ball. I mean, dropping the ball is dropping the ball. I know he's raw and still has lots of learning and improving, but why chance it with such high draft capital? Gettleman kind of hit on this when he was discussing over-drafting a guy, only to have everyone get mad at him when he fails to meet expectations.

At the moment, his hands would fit well with what we already have, and that's not what many of us desire. We need sure-handed receivers.

I'm not saying draft him 8th overall. I'm saying I believe he's BPA if he fell to the 40th imho. He's got potential to be the best TE from this class, and he's young. He shows all the traits - even proper catching form - to be elite.

Search up 'Matt Waldman David Njoku' and that video will explain why he'll be a good catcher, blocker, and threat.

Good...again, it means he's learning how to play. I said I'd take him in the 2nd...so tell me...tell me...how am I hating on the kid entirely or anything here?

Tell me, exactly when and where did I say you were hating on him?

Jesus Christ...you quote my post and start telling me to compare his drop rates at the beginning and end of the season, and sticking up for his playing time, and saying his hands aren't as bad as some make it out to be. I answered your post, and if you read my post earlier, actually agreed on picking him at 40 if he's there...so all ya got left is the semantics of my wording of "hating on him"?

My internet has been pretty awful lately, so no streaming video for me...  Thus I'm not watching any of the Combine, just reading some of the results & comments...  I've seen stuff on Twitter that the TEs were pretty impressive as a group, and that Greg Olsen provided excellent commentary.

Would love to hear more details / reaction from Huddlers who watched it.   I'm still hoping we draft a TE to pair with Greg and learn behind him.  Last year was a bust on that front.

It's not our top priority / need obviously.  DE, RB, S and even slot WR are all higher priorities.  (OT is our greatest need, I just don't expect we'll find what we need in the draft.  That will have to be solved in Free Agency).

Depending on how the board shapes up and how the players fall to us, I'm guessing we would not draft a TE before the 3rd or 4th, maybe at #98 or #115 (and obviously there's a chance Dave might use these picks as trade capital... who knows)

Who should I be looking at in the 3rd or 4th who might be worth a pick?  Thoughts?

OJ Howard,  Mike Mayock basically called him a Olsen clone but with better blocking abilities

STRENGTHS

Exceptionally gifted athlete. Has long arms and massive hands for his position. Tremendous acceleration into his routes. Has tools to torment defenses on second and third level. Play speed resembles a wide receiver's when the ball is in the air. Linebackers have no shot against him in space. Can turn a short throw into a long gain. Light on his feet and smooth out of his breaks. Easy separator who creates instant throwing windows when he hits the gas. Natural pass catcher who plucks it away from his body. Can adjust to poorly thrown balls and secure contested catches. Shows no lack of toughness over the middle. Can be lined up all over the field. Monster championship game in 2015 season revealed true potential. Has elite ceiling as playmaker. Lands his hands inside the frame as a blocker. Operates with wide base and attempts to snap hips into his block.

George Kittle, this dude will be around in the 4th. Get us this kid!!
Havnt really heard of him until the combine and that caused me to look into him.

Cousin of a NFL TE son of a former Iowa teamcaptain/OL

Kittle came to the combine
6'4 247
4.52 40
35 vert
132 broad

The reason we are in dire need of a TE isnt to replace Olsen. #2 TEs in Rivera/Shula's offense, is more of a H-Back role. More of a blocker role but will still go and run routes and catch the ball. Dickson cant block for poo. I dont know who blocks worse, Dickson from the TE or Remmers/Bell from OT

Kittles has the athletic ability to become a good pass catcher, he has a solid mentor in Olsen. Combine that with the good head on his shoulders, it shouldnt be hard for him to learn

And he has the blocking covered. You can tell he's a son of a OL
