Bucs about to make Glennon the top paid back up QB

He has absolutely no reason to sign anytime soon.  Let them float $12 million, if he can get that from another team why would he sign with Tampa to be traded?  It's not like he would want his new team to forfeit picks when they could have gotten him as a free agent.

I would be pretty surprised to see TB successfully sign him.  They should have traded him last year.

It's actually a smart move for both Glennon and the Bucs. If he goes the FA market, they get maybe a compensatory pick next year (I believe). Here, though, if they sign him for $12 million and then trade him to one of the QB hungry but draft pick leary teams out there, he creates immediate value for the Bucs at no real cost.

What does Glennon get out of it? Well, the galloping giraffe did fair to good in action under a bad coach before, but he's been locked onto the bench since. That's a big if in the market, especially after some miscues like Osweiller and others in similar situations pretty much crapped the bed when they got tabbed as starting or franchise QBs. This gives him a market value to go with his body of work, and $12 million a year looks like the Bucs would pay him close to starting money, so he must be starting talent. (Whether or not he is, still has to be seen.)

Glennon's a good kid and has talent and experience. I'd rather see him in Chicago and taking the reigns from Cutler than sitting on the bench behind a solid #1 QB. He's the kind of guy that Fox could use. And $12 million would be cheap compared to what they've thrown away on Cutler over the years.

    • The new (released today) FOX ONE app will allow you access to watch your Local FOX Station - similar to how the Paramount Plus app allows you access to watch your local CBS station It'll cost you $20/month for the privilege, but if you're having trouble accessing the over-the-air antenna for FOX, this could be an option to consider the new ESPN app will give you access to ESPN content, but not to the local ABC affiliate. A reminder: if you currently get ESPN via some TV provider (cable, satellite, youtube, etc) then you should be able to use the new ESPN app via your provider login, no additional payment required
    • Not even close!!! BURNS was a one trick pony who had a big game or two a year in the sack collum and was invinsible the rest of the time....   Heck hes gonna be the Giants fourth best rusher this year.
    • XL went to one of the worst teams in the NFL.  One that features a weak passing O and bad overall QB play on the season.   XL is getting way too much hate IMO.   He had an okay rookie season all things considered.   Very much on par w/ prospects that projected around the same area with him.   Panthers made a 2nd rounder a first round technicality for that contract.  XL also getting this weird kicker type blame for games.  XL somehow single handedly lost us games on one play.....and then we ignore the rest of the team that went about losing the game for 4 quarters.   Should he of caught the Philly ball? 100%.  The O and D still played like garbage that entire game.  Even after the drop, Panthers had two shots starting w/ a 3rd and 4 to convert.  They kept playing bad instead.  And even if we XL made the play....Philly would have had a minute and half to get into FG range to win it.  Who is banking on the Panther D getting that stop?  also, I am deemed Mr. Negative, yet here I am defending a no good dirty Gamecock lol
