We don't need to Draft a TE!

IF you go by value alone, DE will be BPA.

IF you believe offense over defense for whatever reason, then there is no way you can discredit the talent and impact Howard would have. Fournette is talented and will have big impact also, but in a draft that is so deep at RB, the BPA probably tilts toward Howard.

Completely agree.

We should get a TE in this draft. Maybe not 1st round but by the 4th. Olsen is getting older and Dickson isn't very good. We need a RB and DE. DE is a place we may double dip, because we are old at that position. Our CBs got better through the year, but out passing stats were terrible due to not getting enough pressure with our front four forcing us to blitz. I'd be fine with a CB in the 3rd or 4th. But we need help bad a RB, SS, DE, OT and WR. Anything else is gravy.

All over it...

OJ Howard is undeniably a physical freak. And GMan loves building a team of massive players. He would immediately impact our offense whether we 'need' him or not. I can't fathom having KB, Olsen, and Howard in the backfield. Not saying he should be the pick, but I wouldn't be mad in any shape or form if he was.

Don't need to, but you could argue we dont NEED to draft any position. We actually did well enough in free agency there is no one position of absolute urgent need like WR in 2014 draft or CB in the 2016 draft.

I think this draft in general has undeniable first three round talent in tight ends and running backs. I think they would hugely benefit from drafting either a TE or RB in the top 3 rounds, it'll help our current aging starters (Stewart and Olsen) stay fresh and healthy, and also  take the pressure off them for them to perform even better in game. Hell we could even do something like take Fournette at 8 and trade both our 2nds to move up to the late first and get Howard too.

It's been discussed before but need does factor into BPA. For example, imagine the BPA at #8 was a QB. Would we take him blindly because he's the best? No. So blindly ignoring need isn't what BPA is about. It's a factor but much smaller factor than a team that say...needs a QB.

In the end, I have no idea what's going to happen this year. This will actually be the most exciting draft to watch in a while. Pure entertainment, especially knowing there's a potential to make moves back into the first. #MustSeeTV

Most people forget that BPA is different for each teams.  What the talking heads say usually doesn't line up with the realities of the actual GMs.  Like when we double dipped on Star and Short.  We needed quality DTs, if a guy had the traits and skills to be a quality DT, he was rated higher than a guy who would be an average WR3.

I'm really excited for the draft as well!  While there are some really compelling players at 8, and throughout the draft, for the first time a long time we can really just get the best guys for our team.

That being said: I'd LOVE Fournette to fall to us.  I'd love to pick up Jamal Adams or Solomon Thomas to bolster our defense.  OJ Howard would make me happy for his ability to contribute to all phases of our offense and give us Olsen's heir apparent.  Or we could trade down with a team like Cleveland if they decide on a QB they want, which might push other teams to trade up.

This is going to be an entertaining draft season for us because there are always these crazy draft day trades.  The poker faces are out in the NFL, and the misdirection is going to be great leading up to the opening pick.  I would not be surprised to see two teams trade into the top 10 to try to get their QB of the future.  While none of these guys really stick out as prime time candidates for Franchise QBs, most of them have some interesting traits which could be developed into starting NFL QBs, which are in short supply.  Who gambles this season?

Draft needs...tackles, RB, TE, DE....not in that order but needs..not really any good tackles in this draft so thats gone..so the best valued at the other 3 spots will be it...i believe..1st 3 rds will probably be devoted to those positions

    • I’m old enough to remember when I wanted to draft Njoku We brought back Mitchell and officially kept Tremble. Mitchell Evans isn’t going anywhere. Sanders who knows, he was awful last year I fully agree we need a better TE. This room is awful Njoku would be a massive help in the red zone. However it really seems like Dan and the FO prefer to go young on offense
    • You’re underselling Loveland imo. He’s so damn good. You can line him out wide and count on him to win 1 v 1. I don’t see that from Sadiq. Loveland is going to go over 1000 yards next season I’m not overly asking for a WR3. It’s just one of the few directions Morgan could go in round 1.  Let’s say Thieneman, Fano and Cooper are all on the board it’s a tough decision. I just don’t see how this team would take Sadiq over some of those guys given the way they run their offense. Our tight end room is easily bottom of the league so I can definitely see why someone would want a tight end though. At one point during the season I was on the Sadiq train as well. I just don’t think value wise for us specifically it makes sense given our team as a whole As far as tight ends go in this draft I really like Max Klare. Very smooth mover
    • Some of you need some serious help with the way 9 lives rent free in your heads I know for a fact, Dan loves Bryce. Bryce is his guy. This offense is very young and they’re asking Bryce to do a lot. With Idzik taking over playcalling duties it’s a move that is another step in the process of Bryce taking control of the offense. 24 years old. This youth movement on offense and putting more on 9’s shoulders is going to pay off in the long run
