With the help of the networks, they can place two rings on the sides of the goal posts. One is worth 25 points, the other, a C list actor is put to death. Of course that list will be have to be kept up to date. And from time to time, might have to reach up to the B actors. Yeah, I'm looking at you David Giuntoli.

What about D Squad commentators? I'm looking at you Sam Rosen and David Diehl!

edit: Fuggin Brian Baldinger. Yea, please, tell me how every fuging guy on the field that has dreads is chris gamble you fuging mouth-breathing, fat-fingered, dick wizard.

I hope they pass this.  It is actually a really cool idea.  In a game where every yard matters, not only does it reward you for putting your all into each and every kicmoff, it adds fan interest in what has become an extremely uninteresting play.  Instead of shrugging off a useless play, we will now be interested in whether or not they can get it through the uprights.

Furthermore, it will also increase interest for stat geeks.

We saw how useful kickoffs can be in the Super Bowl. The play doesn't have to benefit one team more than the other; it's all a matter of who is most intelligent in preparing for it.

Dumb and pointless.

They're hoping it will pass so as to discourage teams willfully kicking the ball short of the goal line and winning the field position battle that way as they did last year, but it won't.

The statistical odds don't back it up, and teams will process as they did last year.

All except us in our refusal to admit Graham is no longer useful on kickoffs and teams will continue to start us at the 15 while we keep awarding them a free 25.

LOL.  Yup.  But dang I no longer have time to track even the major stats...  Really hoping something changes and my schedule allows me renewed time / energy for number crunching.   All the stuff I've done for work in Excel recently is SO B-O-R-I-N-G!!!  I'd love a break to crunch some NFL & Panthers data!

    • Pretty sure that a QB contract payday is all the competition any QB in this league needs, I don't think a competent backup is going to make them play any harder when the current situation wouldn't warrant the contract extension yet anyways. Your opening point in this post is also the problem, "Bryce has shown signs of improving", but that's still all he's shown, and he's only showing that because of just how bad he was to start his career. If he played like last season from the beginning and never improved one bit, then I actually think more fans would be ready to move on from him, which is what's weird.  It's like going from one of the biggest draft busts of all time into the 25th best QB in the league over 3 years means he deserves a long term $40+ million a year contract extension. Improvement shouldn't be the goal when the result of said improvement is still bottom of the league levels.
    • Yeah, but we've seen him do it. Just not often. I think that's the reason for the taller WRs. Would likely be a problem finding someone like Jimmy Horn in the mess.
    • And the Rams, Seattle, Patriots, Green Bay, Jaguars and the Bills who all made the playoffs and in case you forgot, Seattle and the Patriots played in the SB. By any measure, that's pretty brutal.
