Double Dip

Absolutely. If McCaffrey makes it to 40 I'd love to get him after getting Fournette in the first. Gettleman double or triple dips almost every year. I wouldn't be surprised to see it at RB this year. More realistically I'm thinking Fournette then TJ Logan in the mid to late rounds.

Dat boy fast

I don't see us double dipping at RB if we plan to go after 2 power running backs. McCaffrey makes sense because he is a receiver and returner and RB. If we double down I would think it would be a TE and WR or two WRs. With Fournette onboard, any other back would be lucky to make the roster unless it was a guy who could do more than 1 thing. How many backs do you expect we keep on the 53 squad? 5 and a fullback for a total of 6?

I can't see a double dip at RB in terms of #8 and #40. Just can't see that happening. Now, I could potentially see a double dip in terms of #8 and a later round pick. It seems pretty clear that CAP isn't part of our future plans and Fozzy only has a two year contract with only $500k guaranteed. There's no guaranteed money next season.

So, if we took Fournette at #8, I could definitely see competition being brought in for Fozzy in a later round. Maybe TJ Logan? And if we took McCaffrey at #8 or in a trade down scenario, I could definitely see a more power oriented RB being brought in to compete with CAP. Maybe Perine if we wanted to pull the trigger in the 3rd which is earlier than I would think we would make that move or maybe Elijah Hood if a later round which I think is probably more likely. Yeah, I'm UNC homering a little bit here, but I think both of those guys would fit the bill in theses situations both in terms of skill set and draft projection.

In the extremely unlikely scenario that McCaffrey makes it to 40, I could see Gettleman drafting him on BPA alone.  After all, they are clearly at least considering him with their first round pick.

That being said, McCaffrey is not going to last nearly that long in the draft.  The more realistic scenario is probably something like Fournette + Kamara or Samuel, and in that case I agree with your thoughts - they would probably wait to address that complimentary back until later in the draft.

Not for it, we'd have a log jam at rb and obvious holes. Gotta get out of the business of drafting players who won't see the field much

@panthers55@Cpt slay a ho both of yall have very goot points. i just thought it was a possibility since Stew is retiring soon and the rest of our backfield obviously is nothing more than role players. it might be that we draft our power back this year and his compliment next year.
