And Now A Peak At The Falcons First Rounder...

If there's ever a Falcon that I may actually like, Takkarist McKinley may fit the bill. Sure, his touching story about how he came from scraps and how much his grandmother influenced him is touching, and his passion for the game and how he got this far is inspirational, but there's just one aspect of him that makes my heart tingle.

It can all be summed up in this one simple quote:

Quote

On his favorite team being the Carolina Panthers and potentially playing against them:

Ha, yeah, I have to cool down a little bit. It breaks my heart.  But my uncle always asks, 'how would you feel about tackling Cam Newton?' I tell him, 'I couldn't do it.' ...  I'll let him score.

Yep. The Falcons first round pick is a huge Panther and Cam Newton fan.

It's a sad turn of fate in all honesty. The Falcons come forth again to ruin another person's career by not only forcing said person to play for one of the biggest jokes of a franchise in the history of football, he's forced to go against his favorite team and player in a twist of cruel fate.

Of course, he later (hesitantly) claims he's "joking" about not tackling Cam Newton, as seen below:

Quote

“I’m just messing with you... I wouldn’t do that.”

Even so, something tells me he's not looking forward to facing the Panthers in more ways than one.

Just look at his intense passion towards the Carolina Panthers. To commemorate his first milestone of getting a tattoo, he decks out in the gear of his two favorite teams: The college team he plays for, and the Carolina Panthers:

It's just a sad state of events that this kid had to go to a franchise like the Failcons. A team where Matty Meltdown attempts the role of QB while acting like a complete and total fool. It's very disheartening all around.

Nevertheless, he has one important message to all Panther fans.

So, if there was ever a Falcon to like, it's this guy.

I understand his passion but what he did on draft night was stupid and ridiculous, frankly. And while I did like him as a player and he was on my radar for pick 40, I don't think he was worth trading up for him like the Falcons did. Bucs and Aints had great first rounds. Can't say the same about the Falcons.

I'm telling yall NFC South defenses are going to be far better this year.

Falcons & Saints drafted LBs to stop Carolina's  2 main weapon

J-Stew & Olsen.

Our scheme to have game-breakers McCaffrey and Samuel wide-open is going perfectly according to plan.

That was literally my first thought. They're evolving to stop what we've been doing...not what we're about to do.

Lotta people will hate on him, and he is going to have to check his emotions at times...but hard not to like him (when he's not wearing a Falcons jersey).

Story on Twitter that he overslept on a recruiting visit to Cal I think (?)...because it was the first time in months he'd actually gotten to sleep in a bed. When you've had the life this dude has...kinda hard not to be emotional on draft night.

Damn, I feel for anyone in that situation.  But I'm mostly proud to see somebody able to build a life out of nothing.  It's got to be pure ecstasy to work that hard and have it payoff like that.

    • I am trying to remember when I EVER said reach for need. My thing if someone falls you jump, if you can trade back a few slots and get help at the right value and pick up some ammo to move up from 51 which I think is outside the money zone, then you do that.   Take a WR later. Plenty of capable WRs have come from the 3rd round. Though this year I would go for C there if there was a reasonable choice. Take a TE if you must. I see more reason to take WR than TE. I think you give guys drafted two years ago and last year a chance to develop before cancelling them.    I think it is kind of unrealistic to throw everything all in on offense in hopes of going deep in the playoffs after an 8-10 year, even if it did have some nice bright spots in it.    And outside of this argument but relevant to it, I am bothered by Canales and Morgan and their apparent posture that we have arrived and are now in the big boy club. I don’t know where that comes from. They are out there talking like they are winners at 8-10. Backing into the playoffs in a real convoluted tie breaker scenario. They had some good games, yes. But the big feather n the cap, the LA Rams matchups, did you see what the Rams did? They didn’t fire the coaches but they fired their defensive backs. Bryce beat them yes, and it was pretty, but it was kind of like the Bucs and Mike Evans picking on our decimated secondary in 2022. Someone (Wilks) went down for allowing that to happen and they went down in LA too.  Wr aren’t as good as a whole lot of homers think we are. Shore up the trenches.    I think too many fans buy into it because they are so starved for anything that looks like a winner.
    • How exactly does one win OROY "by default"? Wouldn't winning the award mean that of the two, McMillon stayed strong the entire year while the other guy didn't and fizzled out? That's like saying Secretariat only won by default because the other horse stopped moving midway through the race. Absolutely zero logic in that statement, which makes me very glad that I've never really paid much attention to Walterfoozball.
    • I agree, teams in the past have fired the HC in order to retain a coach on staff...hell it happened to Mcderp this year, rams in the past and Im missing another.  The fall off for the Panthers team defense was huge once Mcderp leftd and Ron could not fix it even when he named himself DC.
