NFL Eliminates 75-Man Roster Cuts

Thoughts? I love it. Gives more time to guys like Jeremy Cash, Byrd, Boulware, Sanchez etc. to show their stuff. It will also give us more bodies for the meaningless final preseason game and that will hopefully prevent some injuries and make sure contributors are fresh and ready to roll for week 1.

I honestly cant find a circumstance where Byrd makes the team. CMC and C4 are better returners and they can also fill the slot void if need be. Hell wasn't Fred Ross a better punt returner in college than Byrd? If he is, which I'm pretty sure he was, that kinda wipes out any reason for Byrd to be on the roster unfortunately

I think this is going to be a great competition.

Only way Byrd makes it is to beat out Clay for return duties.

Guess I'm the first who's not a fan.

The thing about the early cuts was it gave guys a chance to catch on with another team before the frenzy of final cutdowns.

Now it'll be everybody scrambling at once.

Definitely a valid point from a players perspective.

That is a good point. Then again, if you were not good enough to survive the 75 man cut, then the odds of making the final 53 elsewhere are shaky at best.

If the league would increase the final roster size and practice squad as others have suggested, then that may be a way to compensate.

I think this is a GOOD thing in terms of allowing the team to choose the best players.  More time to evaluate some of the guys on the bubble.  Also, I know that either in 2015 or 2016 (I think it was 2016) we ended up cutting a few promising guys due to injuries at a position, meaning we had to keep extra bodies for a position for the final preseason game.  Immediate sShort term needs at a position perhaps jeopardized being able to keep a promising player... that won't happen now.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
