firing the best GM in team history at the height of our team's success a week before the most anticipated training camp in our team's history at the behest of an owner unqualified by his history to make those kinds of decisions is a catastrophic event in this team's history.

outrage is warranted.

I completely agree with ladypanther, all the flying off the handle, "I'm done with this team" bullshit is a lot much.. and I get opinions are opinions & here is where they're to be heard, but still... like I said, completely agree with OP...

that at being said, I don't have an argument for your wordsmithing, valid point is very....

"Height of our team's success" 2016 was one of our worst seasons.

I have no problem with fans being emotional at anytime. This is a message board, and you're dealing with diehards of the team. It's expected. Be consistent, though. If you weren't for it in the past, don't be for it now. If you called others out for it in the past, then you need to be called out for it now

This is complete bullsh*t and you know it. You and the people who pied you know it. Y'all were the main ones getting on other fans for acting emotional when other moves were made, particularly the Norman & Smith situations, but now it's ok to be emotional. Mane, get outta here.

I can admit that. But guess what. Im a big gettleman fan and loved him and saw his plan through.

Im not emotional but im not happy and im letting it be known

it has always been ok. People have the rights to be mad and people have the right to refute that and say otherwise

its all good.

2001 and 2010 were far, far worse.

Throw in that under Hurney, you generally had to wait a few years in-between good seasons (the last stretch being five years and the winning seasons coming only after he was replaced).

Gettleman's run was the most successful period in franchise history and there is absolutely no disputing that.

I'm certainly not done cheering for the franchise, but I have severe doubts about the moves being made and the direction the team is taking.

It's still very possible that this season could turn out okay but my optimism for the future has taken a big hit.

Nothing wrong with that opinion and concern. It is the anger, personal attacks, etc that I think need to calm down.  Thoughtful opinions are great here and I always have respected yours. One of my 1st thoughts after the shock settled in was that I wish you were here...and then...here you are!!

I am concerned too, but there is also a lot of unknown. Moving forward I am going to focus my passion on positive energy for the players and coaches and hope for the best. That is what I can control.

This is JR's business I get it. He can do whatever he wants. But the fact that one cannot explain a business decision to fans, consumers, board members etc ... is proof that he was not qualified to make that decision to begin with. I wouldn't pull a mafia crap like that and hide away, but then I do not own an NFL team. But I have seen amazing workers fired for no reason except the manager just did not like them, but even in those cases there was always a BS explanation given.

I don't know man. I've been through 1-15, 2-14, Rae Carruth, Kerry Collins etc... but this really was a punch in the gut from people that you thought were on your side i.e. the side of winning. Ownership is basically sending a message to the fans "hey, we do not care about winning as much as you do". May be I care a little to much. May be a need a life :-) I'm gonna step back. I'll be in SF for the season opener. Not gonna try and pick the brains of a senile old man anymore
