I think it is just as likely that DG was playing chicken with Turner as well. He had a tendency to quibble over a few million a year. If I remember correctly we didn't sign Norman and the sides were only 2 million apart. It is just as likely that Hurney saw Turner's agents position and felt it was close and split the difference instead of getting in a pissing contest over a million here or there.

Hell yes. Glad this got done. That 11 mil cap fig tho....

You have to keep in mind how much the salary cap is raising per year. This season it's been increased by 12 million. During Dave Gettleman's tenure with the Panthers the salary cap rose around 44 million.

Voth confirmed it was Gettleman who set this up.

Voth said Gettleman laid the framework.. we don't know whether or not Hurney put any finishing touches on it.

There is so much fans dont think about.. Maybe DG wanted 5 years?  maybe that would have helped us in some way down the line if we had several players needing new deals after the 4th year.  Maybe there were some other small details that DG was trying get into the deal, that Marty was willing to concede on.

And if hurney does that enough times, we'll be back into cap hell again

Who gives a flying monkey crap who set this up....it's done and we have one more piece locked up to solidify an offensive line. Let it go. Gettleman is gone and bitching and complaining about it ain't gonna change a thing. Hope for the best and enjoy what I believe is gonna be a great season no matter what happens after and especially what happened that we can not change.

    • I’m really having a hard time understanding how this actually went down. -Renfrow expected to make roster as 2nd/3rd string. -Panthers cut Renfrow; Keep Brycen Tremayne, and add UDFA receiver (Dalevon Campbell) to active roster.  -Canales/Morgan say it’s totally up to Hunter whether he wants to come back or not, they would love to have him.    -Renfrow not signed to PS -Panthers trade Adam Thielen -Hunter Renfrow signed to active roster with a raise after an injury to Coker nobody heard about and is likely to start.    Our WR room is now: -Xavier Legette (2024 1st round pick) -Tet McMillan (2025 1st round pick) -Hunter Renfrow (1 year out of the league) -David Moore (Canales’ friend? A guy way past his prime) -Jimmy Horn (Likely a Shi Smith reprint, but has potential 2025 6th round pick, weighs 174 lbs) -Brycen Tremayne (2023 UDFA who was on Washington’s PS for 2 years and caught 1 pass for -2 yards and averaged 300 yards per year at Stanford) -Dalevon Campbell (2025 UDFA had a good preseason but had 1463 yards and 3 TDs over 5 college seasons at 3 different schools). What the hell is going on?
    • Not uncommon for week 1 games. Especially against good defenses. It’s why I prefer my team play these small schools week 1 if they are going to play them. Gives the offense time to get calibrated.
