This is too much. Smitty maybe a dick but come on.

Sorry, but that's how I see it.

Narcissists will absolutely use anything and everything to glorify themselves, even "religion".  Even their own families.  Anything goes for the narcissist in the service of glorifying Self.

Now, again, list the known spontaneous acts of kindness by Steve Smith Sr. when no media have been alerted to bring their cameras.  I'm willing to be shown to be wrong on this.

These kind of spontaneous acts *do* eventually leak out to the public: Cam dropping into a school playground unannounced (found out about it from teacher's phone cameras); Cam paying for a Halloween party for a kid dying from cancer (found out about it from the kid's mom posted to social media); Cam visiting the families of the Charleston shootings (found out about it, again, from the families on social media).

Who knows, but Cam might not have taken it well either.

Getting pounded on the field and in the locker room while management spoke glowingly about his assailant.

Steve had a well established record for putting the people he swung at in the hospital and ending their careers.

It may have been all the team could muster to put up with his antics till the end of the season.

Very good point.

Notice how every time he "washes the feet" of the poor that there are cameras around?

How many spontaneous acts of kindness (with no media alerted and at the ready) have been discovered about Steve Smith?

Now, for comparison, how many spontaneous acts of kindness (with no media alerted) have been discovered about Cam Newton?

it's like watching your favorite oil refinery organize a clean up drive to combat litter in front of the local news

"hey greenpeace! look at us! we're not so bad! we're with it!"

As I said earlier I could see it happening. But for lips to be sealed this long is what makes it sound a little sketchy.

Smith has always struck me as a guy who was tough as nails. His rage is what made him an exceptional player. That said he also seems like a guy that has never encountered someone willing to bark back(on his level) and put him in his place.

If Smith was a Raven in Ray Lewis days and they got in a scuffle, I imagine he backs down or gets his ass worked.

I just think it's unfair to criticize someone who is obviously helping people who are at the bottom of society regardless if they want it known. He's still washing homeless people's feet and giving them shoes. He's taking the time out of his day to do that. It's not like he was just there for a 30 second tv clip. He spends the entire day there doing that.

This is also true. It's still an act of kindness regardless of the motivations(as disengenuous as they may or may not be).

    • The difference is about how much player input is allowed and encouraged in the decision making process. Top down teams tend to dictate to players how everything is handled. Disagreements are handled by the coach and players are expected to do what they are told regardless of what they think or feel.  Players are perceived as commodities to be used until we find better. In player led teams player input is encouraged and valued. Players and especially leaders are expected to settle their own disagreements and be accountable to the team but mostly to each other. Players are family to be appreciated and supported in their growth. Is the reality of football the same in both? Yeah there are limited positions, football is a business and winning is the bottom line. Coaches get final say and run the program because that is their job. But in player led teams they feel valued, appreciated, part of a larger whole. Most people who have worked at multiple jobs know exactly what I am talking about. When players try to run the show and don't value  coach input that isn't a player led team, that is a circus which we surely are familiar with in our past.
    • For our pics and trades tonight and tmrw.  Remember, Aho was a 2nd rounder and Slavin was a 4th rounder.
    • Seems to be the consensus from the talking heads. I really wish we had double dipped at center in the 2nd round. Sion will never play in the league.
