Cam Newton update

Jeremy Igo

Recommended Posts

Well, it is officially a week that Cam Newton is not throwing today. That makes it a full week.

He won't practice tomorrow because they will be doing walk throughs for the game and he isn't playing.

Wednesday is Preseason game one.

No camp Thursday.

Best case scenario is he throws on Friday. If not, we may be looking at two full weeks of not throwing in training camp.

So when does this become worrisome?

Was a while ago.  Cam needs the reps.  The WR's need reps with Cam throwing the ball.  CMC needs reps with Cam.

This is certainly not ideal, but the defense looks pretty good, so it may not cost us too much.

Of course you'd like to have him getting reps with the WR's (and CMC), but if it's a choice between him missing practices/preseason game(s) vs. coming back 100% too soon/missing regular season game(s), I'll take him sitting out practice all day.

Also, I know Cam is competitive, but maybe Ron has not told him not to chase down INT's unless we are in a playoff game, or a game we need to get into the playoffs.

Just not very smart long term to have your QB out there tackling, and taking on blocks.

Lets say Cam doesn't throw until after the season starts. How concerned are people about problems with the offense at that point?

Very. At this point, we know Cam's eventually going to recover from the surgery , but its mostly a matter of how much time he's missing to gell with his offense before the season starts. He can't just go into game 1 with hardly any practice time throwing to teammates, and especially new ones like McCaffrey and Samuel. The timing of throws and miscommunication  could fug us

    • Winning games and be a +500 team are good. But the goal is to win Super Bowl.  Chiefs had Alex Smith, went to playoff twice and still replaced him.   BY as of now: - To many fumbles - Completion in the intermediate range is just far below acceptable - Not enough of a deep throw threat....   The stats you try use is deceiving.  Catchable......  That is an opinion. Show me the completion %. And also, how does BY compare to other QBs using the stats you cited. Oh... ranked at 27

    • The Entitlement Paradox: When Winning Isn't Enough for Panther fans.    Just the other season(s) we were praying for wins by any means. Brought in every run of the mill QB you could think of.  We know all sides of the ball was bad like egregious bad. However some how we have won 5 games and TOXIC ENTITLEMENT has emerged.    We are a team that has to take wins by anymeans nothing has changed. Keep pounding means it aint gonna be perfect!!    Some panther fans have now developed a toxic entitlement where even victories feel insufficient, demanding flawless performance, or perfection, which stems from historical success in which we dont have any lol. This mindset poisons communities by fostering relentless criticism, harassment, and ingratitude that undermine team morale and alienate casual supporters. For the new Carolina Panthers, this could manifest as fans booing Bryce Young after gritty wins for low passing yards despite low turnovers, pressuring tepper into premature changes mid-rebuild, or driving away talent through online abuse!! eroding the positive momentum from their recent 4-game streak has brought us. Trust and believe the players do see your toxicity.    Anyways here are some positive stats.      Most Accurate QB on... 20+ Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (79.2%) 2. Sam Darnold (79.2%) 3. Bryce Young (75.0%) 10-19 Yard Throws 1. Jaxson Dart (88.0%) 2. Jayden Daniels (82.9%) 3. Drake Maye (80.7%) 0-9 Yard Throws 1. Drake Maye (92.9%) 2. Spencer Rattler (92.6%) 3. Bryce Young (91.7%) @FantasyPtsData
