Peppers has 9 total pro bowls, 6 all-pro teams. He should of been a pro bowler in 2014 when he dominated for the Packers. Should have been first team all pro in 2008. Should have been 2004 NFL DPOY. Shoulda coulda wouda, regardless he has more impact and dominates games more than Kuechly. Pressuring and sacking the QB, interceptions, passes knocked down or tipped which some end up getting intercepted by teammates, forcing and recovering fumbles, scored 6 career defensive touchdowns, blocked 13 kicks. Luke is great, but he has a ways to go to etch his name into the history books as one of the greatest ever, could get there though one day for sure.

Luke still on a more impressive pace.

as far as more impact on games?  I wouldn't say that.  Peppers could take over a game in a way few defensive players can.  Like he was a video game cheat.   But he was the same dude who would go invisible in one on one vs dudes he should dominate all game.  Luke definitely has been more consistent in how he dominates .

I agree Luke has a ways to go and just because someone is on a great pace....doesn't mean it holds up.   Which is why I put my money on either Luke or Cam emerging.

Both are great players. Hopefully they lead the Panthers to the super bowl this season.

but I am glad Pep is back.  Dude is the original freakshow.  Here I am thinking about what Luke can add or Cam....and Pep given out DT play, despite being old, could do freakish stuff this year.

I mean almost feel like there is no doubt he easily blocks a kick, picks off a pass, scores a TD and sacks a dude.    Who can you say that about.

have you ever heard of Sam Mills? it does mean you have to be a lifer. it means you were a great man and player. which TD is

He might be the exception as the first, and since he was a Panther for as long as the team had existed that might explain the exception.
Not trying to argue, I just recall that being the rule today.

TD. Same as others say, I love Smitty.

But I can't think of anyone that has personified the "Keep Pounding" mantra more than TD. Coming back from 3 ACL surgeries? Come on man! Playing at a Pro Bowl level too. Natural talent but that's just an incredible work ethic to come back.  When you add  his leadership and what he's done in the community, I just don't see an argument.

TD, for being the definition of having heart. He never gave up after 3 ACL tears and he should get it for playing in the superbowl with a broken arm suffered in the NFC championship game. Most players would have sat out and understandably so. TD has heart, talent, great locker room guy and just a great person period.

    • Malcom Spence is the best player remaining, hope he’s there.
    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
