CAP> Fozzy

Stew is a big Diesel engine it takes him a while to warm up but the longer he goes the better he gets.

4th quarter after chasing CMC and Samuel and having to tackle Benji, Cam and Olsen, defenses wont want a single thing to do with a hard running Stewart to close the game out.

We bout to see some grown man poo on Sundays fellas.

First off stop this nonsense. Fozzy is better than cap. Cap came in after fozzy playing against 3rd string worst of the worst. Fozzy had played meaningful snaps for the panthers for a few season and if cmc wasn't on the roster I would take fozzy no brainer. With his role being out sourced I don't see a reason for him so that is why this is even a conversation. Although cap isn't but 210 pounds or so that isn't a power back.

CAP's improvement is impressive. Not enough to anoint him over our top 2 backs.

Honestly, CMC & Stew should make a great one two punch, with Stew becoming the "closer".

As long as Stew is still running hard, CAP shouldn't play over him.

I can see carries for all three, honestly.  I don't think the coaches will want CMC off the field much.

CAP is a solid #3 guy right now. He's averaging 4ypc with 3 rushing tds career (fozzy has 2 career). Granted Foz has that scat back potential but I believe that role's been sufficiently filled. With respect to Fozzy i think hes shown the league all he has. CAP is a better RB now with a higher ceiling than Fozzy ever had.

I love how the OP compares a RB that got many touches, to a receiver that got one.

Other than that stupidity, yes, CAP looks like he's ready to play.

That's funny, when I read it my mind instantly made "funchess" into "fozzy". Probably due to the title. I agree that CAP has more value than Fozzy right now.

What kind of skill does CAP have as a receiver out of the backfield? Are his hands any good?

I honestly don't know.

In 2 years he's been given very little opportunity to catch the ball during the regular season, but in those 2 years he's been targeted with 6 passes and he's caught all 6 passes where he was the target for a yards per reception of 11.5 yards.  For his senior year at Auburn (the only year of two that he was the starting RB), he caught 13 passes for 11.3 ypr.

In 3 years at Carolina, Whittaker has had 114 rushes and 42 receptions for 156 total touches.  He has scored 3 TDs.

In 2 years at Carolina, Artis-Payne has had 81 rushes and 6 receptions for 87 total touches.  He has scored... 3 TDs.

And the Panther's official roster has Artis-Payne at 215 pounds.

Fozzy has multiple roles(backup RB who can catch passes and play special teams). That is why he always sticks around. If CAP contributed to special teams, it would be a no brainer to keep him over Fozzy.

With CMC, there is no reason to keep Fozzy around. Cap can fill Stews role if he goes down as evidenced last season.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
