It is illegal for an offensive player to aid a runner in advancing the ball forward.  An offensive player may block for the runner, but may not push them forward.  If an offensive player is deemed to have helped a runner advance the ball, a 10-yard penalty will be assessed.

This rule was implemented to prevent teams from lining up their biggest players behind their running back or tail back, and helping them move the pack.  No offensive player may lift a runner to his feet or pull him in any direction at any time, nor push or throw his body against a teammate to aid him in an attempt to obstruct an opponent or to recover a loose ball. The foul for assisting the runner is a ten-yard penalty.

Its difficult to and rarely enforced though.

CMC never had a negative run all preseason so far. He's made a lot of nothing into something.

Oh, and this.

I'm not saying the dude isn't good, but hanging out here makes you believe he's the white version of Barry Sanders. Like Shady McCoy, Daren Sproiles, or any other countless scat backs never existed.

Just checking the box stats and it looks like CMC had a 3 yard per carry night. Cam had a terrific outing though.

The thing that I liked about cam is that even though he only threw two passes, both were on target and he didn't look to be in pain. Derek Anderson looked like poo so we need a healthy cam for week one

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
