I think we can all concur that DA looked horrible last night... 1st string, 2nd string it didnt matter.. DA was hot garbage and regressed isn't even the word.. Bringing in Kap would at least give us a valuable back up with a similar skill set with little to none drop off.. Although Webb has had a great preseason he is not the back up I would want should Cam have to sit for a substantial amount of time.. He is 3rd string for a reason and has been for some time.. Regardless of the politics Kap can produce and would fit well in our offense.. He definitely would not be a long term solution but until we can find/groom another reliable back up if defensive players are head hunting Cam again this year (especially not being called) we're in a world of trouble if DA or Webb has to lead us to the promise land

Yea i agree about the thought with knowing our culture but tbh Kap put up better numbers than Cam last year even before the injury

My post from another thread, food for thought:

I doubt we will take a QB 3 if for some reason they drop Anderson. Which I highly doubt. 

Webb is QB 3 for 3 reasons. 

Scout Team

Special Teams, 

Emergency backup in multiple rolls. 

If we drop DA I see us riding with two QB and picking up a special teams ace, that can double in multiple other rolls. 

Edit: This is why I hardly put any stock into Kaepernick or any other "pure" QB veteran. If we drop DA and Webb becomes QB 2 they will have to fill the void he leaves. 

Honestly what I see happening though is we keep 3 QB with DA as 2. If he sucks adjust midseason, Rivera is pretty predictable when it comes to giving people second, third, forth, fifth chances...

I'd rather take a chance with DA / Webb ... for football and non-football reasons.  Even though the window has closed this preseason, I'd like to see Webb get a series or two with the 1s.  Won't happen vs the Steelers though in preseason game #4.  The 1s that do play, probably won't get more than a possession.

      it helps that Bryce and Tmac worked out a bit this off-season before the draft and are familiar with each other's game from way back.  Sure Bryce put in a good word for him to the coaching crew ahead of time That california connection goin' work, I hope

      My biggest problem is I think the players he likes don't really work in the modern NFL.  You mentioned the wr room being a lot better, is it?  It has the potential to be.   Last year when we traded up to get Legette, they said they traded up to take him specifically because he was a true X receiver.   Now this year they take TMac because they say he is and that XL was out of posisition last year.  Im not sold on Tmac yet just like I wasn't sold on XL last year.  If TMac isn't a lot better than last XL was last season then that's back to back first rounders in one position that would still need a huge amount of work.  Hopefully Tmac is what everyone seems to think he will be, I'm just not so sure, but them declaring XL was a true X receiver after the draft last year and what they're saying now should at least give you pause about their receivers evaluation because it means they definitely made a mistake one way or another.
