Paving the way for CMC...

Big ups to friend of the huddle Jeremy Cash on his special teams play yesterday. 

Look at him obliterate his man and pave the way on a CMC punt return...

Called back for a penalty no? I thought we cut Teddy Williams. Maybe it wasn't him. Also did I see Bradberry on ST yesterday? I thought he went down for a little bit on a return. Anyone else see that?

Yeah I saw that as well. They cut to a commercial immediately so I don't know what happened...maybe he started having cramps then?

Biggest reason we never return punts or kicks is how poor we used to be at blocking and paving said way.

That being said, seeing Cash do that is reassuring.

Yep. Always. And usually as far away from the actual play as possible.

Yeah, I think this is a stat I'm going to start tracking.

Of the Panthers 4 punt return opportunities:

1 = fair catch

2 = called back on penalties (negating 4 yard and 21 yard returns, so -25 yards, PLUS the penalty yardage)

1 return for 3 yards.

According to the gamebook the two ST penalties on punt returns were on Jacobs (CMC's 21 yard return) and Cash (CMC's 4 yard return)

Who is our special teams coach again? Is he going to maybe go over the whole block in back thing with the players any time this year? Replace the coach if this continues. We got murdered on penalties.

With a player like CMC we really should focus more on ST and getting it right. We commit dumb penalties that should be addressed.

I dearly wish the Refs would just leave special teams alone and let them do whatever the fug is nessesary to get a good return. Its hard enough to deal with a bunch of 200+ lbs men streaking down the field at max speed and you make it a pain to watch on TV when every fuging time theres some semblance of a return its called back

GREAT block by Cash, if Bradberry hadn't cramped up and was able to make his block CMC would have taken it to the house.

Risking CMC when the plays don't even count is just hard to watch. We could put in a scrub and just have him fair catch it and actually get better results.
