Trying to force Cam into being a dink and dunk QB is not gonna work

I don't know if you noticed, but he was far more accurate on the short passes than deep so far.

He's barely attempted deep passes. And most of them have been to Kelvin and Funchess, put Byrd out there and let him go to work.

3 out his 4 picks have been on passes under 15 yards

That's more on decision making rather than accuracy. Cam not having the reps obviously affected him.

And deep ball issues (which 5 attempts isn't a large enough sample size) has to do with personal. And its just not the picks, his screen passes are never sharp or on time

Cam only has 5 attempts of passes more than 40 yards this year (from what I've counted), I think Alex Smith has more than. He's not a dink and dunk QB

They need to let him throw deep and make him run 10 or more times next week.

Our coaching staff is ill equipped to handle talent...

So...Cam is having trouble throwing the ball. Let's make him throw it farther, and more often. Then. Let's run him more.

Sound strategy. (That's sarcasm for you folks who are taking everything so cereally right now.)

I think that's the million dollar question.

Cam is a playmaker, if we want to go dink and dunk (which it looks like we do) then we might be better off with a Sam Bradford.

This isn't a knock on Cam this just isn't his style, this would be like asking Tom Brady to become a running QB.

Cam wants to make plays and Cam likes to take his shots. By sticking him in this type of offense he could feel like he's being bottled up. Cam is someone who needs to get into a rhythm when it comes to throwing, this offense prevents him from ever being able to find that rhythm. It's like asking a jump shooter knock down a shot late in the 4th after not touching the ball all night.

Then add in the fact that he gets hit every time he drops back and things become impossible. As long as Kalil is our LT, dink and dunk might be our only option because Cam just doesn't have the time to take shots downfield.

Cam's having trouble throwing the ball, on dink and dunk passes....

Are you okay with the offense you are seeing on the field? At least throwing it deep can give us a chance to score and Cam running it would keep the opposing D honest

I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. We have a QB that is obviously not 100% healthy. And you want to add more on his plate? Nope, I don't like it.

    • First, am I wrong? I looked back over all his posts here and I didn't see anything positive other than Shough. Second, pretty sure if you had read the post I was responding to, you would have seen CRA made poo personal as well . You just choose to address me instead of him. Not sure why?????
    • I wanted XL but I felt he should have been a 2nd rounder but I understand the logic trading up just to get the option. A safety net for your gamble.    Certainly disappointed with his receivers development but i like his down field blocking and I imagine that's what's keeping him on the field.
    • Pretty sure it is a given Young lacks typical QB size and strength and he is here simply because his other attributes more than make up for it. My point is not to indicate anyone "settled" for him but rather to remind people that there have been plenty of big, strong QB's that have not lived up to expectations. Jamis Winston, Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, JaMarcus Russel are a few examples. They all have the physical attributes coveted by teams and yet none have had sustained success in the NFL. And yes, there are QBs that do have both but there aren't many and some of the ones still playing were failures with their early teams. Saying Young is a bust simply based upon his size (and I do think it is as simple as that for a few guys around here) is unfair to both him and the team.
