My guess is they just don't see the space -- though I figured he was better than Jacobs. It's a strange move for someone who was never really in danger of getting cut a few weeks ago.  I imagine he will get picked up shortly by someone else.  It would be strange for Hurney to be doing this out of "good will" to a player so that he can play ASAP for another team. That doesn't make sense

Don't worry, he'll sign with the Buffalo Panthers, I mean, Buffalo Bills.  I'm sure McD and Mr. Beane will find a spot for him since they've had plenty of time up-close and personal with him.

My guess is that we IRed him for something minor to free up a roster spot a week or two ago (forget who we moved up from PS, Armah maybe?) and that he's not injured enough to stay on IR all season, thus the injury settlement?

we play w half a team and not our entire roster = no depth when someone gets injured

This is where I am confused.  Wasn't he supposed to fill in once TD starts to fade?  I guess we aren't thinking long-term right now...I mean that happens when you have a GM that doesn't plan to be here.

Also means they like Armah on special teams. If he sticks on 53, no room for 7th LB.

I think the plan to replace TD is Shaq?

Very possible. The NFL is business first but sometimes they do make moves to help a player out. If they know he isn't in our future plans, then just go ahead and make a settlement and turn him lose and let him start looking for his next opportunity. It's win/win for both parties.

Cash was always kind of an underdog: too small to play linebacker / not good enough in coverage for safety. I was rooting for him but it seems it wasn't meant to be.

We all root for underdogs (guys like Cash, Boulware, etc) but in real life they're underdogs for a reason and they  don't often get happy endings.

For every Sam Mills, there's ten Benjamin Boulwares.
