Apparently the Carolina Panthers have this secretly amazing o-line or something according to PFF.  I mean our interior with Ryan Kalil healthy is amazing, but our tackles have been average - below average. 

Either the NFL has some really bad o-lines right now, or something's crazy.

The Panthers are at their most successful when running a man-blocking scheme this season, as they average 2.42 yards before contact on these runs, third-highest in the league.

Offensive line play has severely deteriorated in general over the last few seasons, there's not many upper tier units at all.

They (being the college teams) just don't make them like they used to anymore.

He's been terrible from what I've been seeing. Trai Turner REALLY making him look good, and even then we still had breakdowns on the right side.

Still can't believe how good Trai is though. He does so much.

i think this is key.

if you don't have long drawn out plays, everyone looks and performs better.

People have unrealistic standards for line play. Every single team's fanbase has a whipping boy (or several) on the OL, but the rules are designed specifically so that QBs should only have a few seconds to get the ball out on average. PFF is probably in the neighborhood of correct, even if the exact ranking is a little off. I'm also pretty sure they account for long-developing plays in their analysis as well.

You're right, and that's because colleges have moved on to the next generation on offense whereas the majority of NFL teams still want to pretend its the 1970's.

      I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.

      The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.

      I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
