Curtis Samuel vs CMC

Coming out they were both compared to each other some saying Samuel was a poor mans CMC. Me personally I feel better about Samuel at this point than CMC(fumble withstanding eeew) because to me he passes the eyeball test. He flashes game breaking speed, his hands look solid and he still is learning the playbook. Slowly but surely he is being brought along into the offense.

I think it’s only a matter of time before he catches one of those weekly deep balls. CMC on the other hand is breaking down and his role being decreased almost everywhere. I don’t think we have seen a worse first rounder in terms of blocking in recent memory, and I am almost at the point of saying I would rather see Samuel get his carries at RB. CMC need to just start preparing for his future as a Wes Welker/Edelman type and be done with it.

I haven't been impressed by Samuel at all.  He seems to play timid

Really? Seems he gets 10 yards every time he does the reverse. And as someone above said he does make a man miss and displays decent hands.... haven’t seen him drop any. And on those deep balls I can atleast see the long speed.

CMC is a good football player. Maybe top 10 was to high but he shows 1st round talent. His movement is incredible and many times all he needs is a block or a better pass so he can keep moving.

I still think CMC will be great, just needs a year under his belt, and should add about 10 to 15 pounds of muscle to his frame so he power through defenders more.

Nothing about Samuels hands look “solid”. He’s had 2 or 3 now hit him in the hands and wasn’t able to grab it.

1 in Detroit, 1 against Philly I believe and yesterdays deep ball hit him right in the hand

I believe has caught all the passes he should have caught. You are asking him to make the difficult catches which I would agree he hasn’t. Which is why I said they look solid. When he’s open it’s not like he’s dropping passes... he makes the open catches, slants comebacks he’s been money on those.

What If we switch it up put cmc at wr and Samuel in the back field

This is what I was thinking... worth a try... maybe we had the formula right just switch around the equation... I don’t think CMC is a natural runningback. He was probably groomed from birth on route running and catching the football like his daddy, only to be placed at runningback.

    • I have to disagree on most of what you said. His route tree is his biggest weakness. The only routes I would say he looked great on were seams, screens, and slants. His curls were ok while the routes that require sharp cuts (dig, out, corner) were poorly ran by him. Granted, route trees are something that can be developed by NFL teams, it just might take a while for Sadiq. His blocking I am not sure on. He blocked corners/safeties/hybrid coverage LBs pretty well from the slot. I haven't seen if he can block/chip in the box LBs or down linemen and we have no tape of if he can do it at the y-tight end spot. He is a willing blocker which is good. He should be explosive after the catch, but it for whatever reason hasn't shown up on tape. This is probably one of the most baffling things for me watching his tape after his crazy good combine - the dude should be a YAC machine, but it just isn't there on his tape. Not saying this article is article of the year or anything, but it gave pretty good insight into Sadiq's YRR and YAC last season. https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/football/news/should-te-kenyon-sadiq-be-a-first-round-pick-with-these-red-flags-in-his-nfl-draft-profile
