Trade deadline thread

SuperBowlBound

Recommended Posts

I've seen a number of threads regarding specific players before tomorrow's trade deadline.

Realistically, does anyone expect Hurney to do anything? We're already without a 2018 4th from the Andy Lee deal (a pick that the Browns will undoubtedly bungle) and I'm not sure how steep a price they would want to pay to upgrade certain spots.

@Jeremy Igo, any educated guesses based on what you've observed?

Again, if there is any year to do it its this one. But Hurndawg doesn't personally benefit from rocking the boat so I imagine they'll sit on their hands and talk about cliches that involve the words "process" and "trusting" and all the other stuff that's never put a trophy in the case.

i can see him making small move for a backup oline in exchange for a 5th. Id trade our 3rd rounder for a above average LT. That way we kick kalil out to RT and even tho its still expensive its not as bad as i see him being better especially with how our scheme has the RG help the RT and the LG slide over his man and then help C here and there.

We should definitely be inquiring about Hilton. We desperately need a field stretcher. Enough of this always focusing on the future type of approach. Strike while the iron is hot. Seems like the future never seems to actually get here with this franchise.

Are you willing to give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him? He has around $4M in salary left for this year which isn't a big deal but the last 3 years of his deal carry salaries of $11M, $13M and $14.5M. That's market value for him during his last 3 prime years, but it also probably means we have to let Norwell go after the year.

Yes. Some of that base could be converted to bonus if we needed it for cap flexibility.

As for Norwell, he's a guy coaches and fans love due to his effort level but in terms of talent he's fairly easily replaceable. If he's going to command big money for an OG I'd let him walk anyway. I just don't think you can afford to carry two big money OGs. It'd be reminiscent of the days when we were limited by the Double Trouble contracts.

Fair enough. I tend to agree on Norwell. Watching him on pulling plays is very frustrating. He clearly doesn't have the athleticism to do so.

    • I have to say, whatever the reason was, Baker was not good here, there was little indication he was gonna be good.  Other than that I pretty much blame Tepper for the first 7 years of his stewardship being pure misery and full of fugtardedness. Things were finally somewhat improved upon in year 8. No coach under Tepper even smelled 8 wins before. And that coach did it with Bryce Young. While most people hated on him.
    • Neither. Stay with Darnold, keep DJ Moore and CMC. Draft Jalen Carter, Kobie Turner in 2023. Draft Drake Maye if Darnold struggles, or Jared Verse if Darnold gets the Panthers 9 wins in 2024. Draft Tyler Shough to backup Darnold in 2025. And stay with Wilks through 2023. Get a new coach if Maye is the pick or give Wilks a defender in Verse if he wins. That's what I wanted at the end of 2022, and CJ or BY were never worth that cost. A QB with a pro pedigree that grades out in the top 20 picks isn't even worth that cost.
