Who's "Elite" on this team honestly

We have some elite talent, but only Luke has had elite level of play this year. I think its all a mental thing, we arent living up to our motto.  This defense is about 3/4 the same as 2015. back then we had a cocky swagger and believed we would beat anyone. I havent seen it this year, ive seen alot of going through the motions, they are content, they dont have alot of hype, fire, etc. It has been there in spurts but is very sporadic.   Every team that plays us, looks like they want it more. Only fire I saw this was was from Luke and Cam.

When I describe a player as "Elite" I think once in a generation. Not top 5 at their respected position. They'd have to be the best at their position for a lengthy period of time.

There are very few elite players in this league right now.

"Once in a generation talent" is the moniker. You can be an elite player and not once in a generation talent that's just GOAT type talk. Also I'm talking this year only.

If everyone was healthy, we have two elite players on this team,   Luke and Olsen.     Last year as well.     TD isn't elite, he's been on the downswing for a couple years now, let's be honest.   Kalil maybe if healthy but it's been a good bit since he's been there so not sure.

The superbowl year, when it comes to elite, we had Cam, Olsen, Luke, Short, Norman, TD, Kalil, Turner.

Nope, once in a generation (20 years) is like Deion Sanders, Barry Sanders, Strahan, Steve Young, Michael Irvin, Ed Reed, Ray Lewis, Champ Bailey etc. They aren't the Greatest Of All Time(ALL TIME), but they are definitely elite players during their generation(20 years). They dominated their position their entire career.

GOAT= Tom Brady

This year only though:

Antonio Brown

Tom Brady

Le'veon Bell

AJ Bouye

Kuechly

Are the main players that come to mind. Sorry to be literal, but I was being literal.

Yeah and I think we are missing a elite player in the backfield like Norman was. And those that were elite seem to be doing nothing compared to years past. Ironically both Turner and KK got paid and now arnt playing good.

Most defenses only have 1 or 2 "elite" players. It should be KK and Luke but its only been Luke this year.

Addison and Peppers have been great, Star has been decent as well.

Bradberry has regressed, Worley hasn't progressed, Mike Adams looks old, TD looks washed up in coverage, Shaq has the talent but isn't making good decisions on the field.

Not to belabor the point, but I'm thinking elite might mean "future Hall-of-Famer", which means Keuchly and probably Cam.  Do you think Norman is a future Hall-of-Famer?

Elite to me in one year is a player who is playing in that year in the top 5 of his position. You can be elite for a year and not be good other years. The opposite is also true. My question is this year what players on the panthers team would you say is playing at that elite level. It would only be Luke right now. That's a problem winning teams have at least one player that play at an elite level in different positions. we only have one

    • This play was never designed to go to either DJ or Odunze. The primary read is Burden who is stymied early, with the outlet being Kmet if Caleb doesn't like the option for Burden. Given the situation it's pretty obvious the simple play is to take the free yards with Kmet, or if you want to be aggressive just wait a beat longer for Burden to uncover on his double move. If Moore was ever going to be a viable target in this play then Caleb should have started out reading Odunze to hold the safety in the middle and then coming to Moore, but because he started the snap staring down the right and then came back to the middle late it made it where the safety's leverage remained to the outside of Moore, so he would never have imagined that pass actually being thrown to him in that situation. Realistically DJ's best option in that context is to just occupy the safety to leave a hole open for Caleb to get it to Burden, which is probably why he throttles down vs carrying the safety across.
    • Even with Sonny Styles still on the board I thought it's a no brainer to address the Oline after Icky's injury.  And how can you pass up Fano at 19 given our situation. Then the rest of the draft just kind of made sense with maybe the exception of Klubnik.  But if Canales can fix him and Young goes down. . .I think it's a solid pick. What do you think of this draft?
