Payton reportedly trolled the Falcons (but denies it)

Saints head coach Sean Payton apparently likes 28-3 jokes too, though I'd say this one kind of backfired on him (link).

Is this the kind of thing you would want your head coach doing or would you prefer a coach that always behaves professionally?

Quote

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton put his right hand around his neck and appeared to yell “choke” in the direction of Atlanta Falcons running back Devonta Freeman early in the fourth quarter of Thursday night’s game.

With 12:40 remaining, Freeman took a toss to his left into the Saints bench area for no gain. As he returned to the field of play, it appeared as though Freeman and Payton each began chirping at each other with Payton shown on the broadcast grasping at his neck and twice yelling “choke” in Freeman’s direction.

“I don’t remember that,” Payton said during his postgame press conference.

Well, how'd that work out for him?

He also tripped the ref on the way off the field. The guy can coach, but he's a douchebag and I'm glad we don't have a guy like that representing the Panthers. Stoic Ron might piss me off sometimes, but I'd much rather be frustrated by his lack of outward enthusiasm than watch in embarrassment as he acted like Sean Payton on a pill bender.

Great coach. Special isn't always "normal".

Former Bear so I've got mad respect.

Love his coaching style. He'll bury your face in the dirt and step on your neck, like he does Ron almost every time they go head to head.

Wish he would leave N.O.

why don't you marry him if you love him so much

    • I agree but he honestly has gotten better about this. Used to be he’d do it like 4-5 times a game, now it’s like 2-3. Overall I’m incredibly happy with his game, his D has been solid and when he is playing his role he’s a solid scorer and one of the few guys who can consistently finish at the rim and provide that threat. Plus he’s electric and LaMelo loves him. Going into the season I was sure he would just be a stop gap here but now I’m reconsidering and could see him continue to be a “core” piece here. Obviously not on the level of the other starters but he is an important cog for this team. We felt his missed presence during his and Moose’s suspensions.
    • Philly will be a bigger challenge than the Knicks were IMO. George and Embiid are back, not sure about Maxey but Embiid alone is a nightmare matchup for us and Moose. We’ve never really done well against him. Celtics added Tatum but honestly not sure they’re all that much better with him right now than they were when we whooped them a few weeks ago. We should be able to at the very least split these 2, hopefully take both.
