RIP Dick Enberg

A long time ago, it was generally believed that the best football broadcast team was two guys named Pat Summerall and John Madden that worked for CBS.

But over at NBC, there were two other guys who were pretty good themselves.

Dick Enberg and Merlin Olsen made a great team back then. Olsen died in 2010. Enberg reportedly just passed.

Most folks these days probably don't even remember Sunday afternoon football on NBC, or football without graphics all over the screen, or football without fantasy stats all over the place.

Enberg was part of that era, and a darn good announcer.

I liked Enberg. He did Olympics and other sports as well. I do feel like its become a lost art.

I think Dick Enberg was the best at whatever he did.  He seemed to have no ego...it was about the game. He called it.....and was so easy to listen to. It was just pure sport...no matter what the sport. IMO his talent and performance are unequaled.

I was blessed to meet him twice at a tennis tournament in Hilton Head with Bud Collns

I was shocked to see this.  I had no idea he was in his 80s.
