Why would the news of new ownership be hidden from us fans like that and or the football world unless it will be unveiled after season like it was supposed to happen with sale of team and all to surprise us all with it.

Because Richardson isn't ready to let go of the team until the end of the season?  These kind of backdoor deals are made all the time in businesses.

Which begs the interesting question. Was Hurney making decisions and transactions to match Jerry's wants, or was he really just a bad GM? Guess we'll soon find out.

I've maintained on this board and elsewhere that Hurney had two different styles as GM.  Before JR got a new heart, he signed some upper-tier free agents (Ken Lucas, Justin Hartwig, Mike Wahle, Keyshawn Johnson, to name a few), and always seemed like he was building for the future.  In early 2009, JR got his heart and while he didn't hit the limelight, the management of the team seemed to change a lot.  We got a lame duck coach, really terrible drafting, and the whole lockout thing.

I'll take 2001-2008 Hurney without complaint.  But if he turns into 2009-2011 Hurney again, look out.

Ok with Rivera...

meh on Hurney.

Wonder if Carolina Boy, Brandon Beane wants to come home?

If you were to measure Hurney just by this season and not pre 2013 then you'd have to admit...he's done a good job.  Getting a pick and Clay back was big.  Clay may not have performed great at WR but his return has won us a game this year.  Also fleecing Buffalo for Benjamin was a ballsy move that paid off.  Now We're an 11-4 team with a lot of picks in the upcoming draft.  However...you have to take into account his past....so I'm not opposed to extending him for 2 years...something short term to make him earn it.

That good ole no back to back winning seasons brain trust and with the GM responsible for 3 straight D titles gone....lol indeed.

I mean the Panthers are well known for their dominant football acumen and are looked to across the football world for how to run thangs.

I have always thought that Rivera was a good coach and have largely supported him. But, I was really prepared to turn on him and Cam if things had gone south this year, because I couldn't endure another losing season without thinking that perhaps things had gotten stale,  but they have both pretty much showed me that they have what it takes to bring the hardware here (regardless of these last couple of games).  Considering our relative lack of a receiving corps,  I think what's happening is amazing yet again. Rivera's teams will lose a couple that make you scratch your head, but when it comes down to crunch time and making a push,  they always seem to get it together and win to get in. Yeah, his teams always seem to figure out a way to make things interesting,  but, at the end of the day, Rivera's equity just keeps growing.

As has been mentioned,  just tweak the time management and let the killer instinct rise to the surface, and Rivera could be great.

Ron, just become more cutthroat in general,  as it pertains to the opposition, underperforming vets---whether they are players or coaches---and give me some more aggression in your approach to today's game! Do this, and become a legend.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
