Takes more than two players to win,  even ones of Cam's and Luke's calibre. But, we can thank Hurney for drafting two of the better players in the NFL. He really hit it out of the park with Cam,  and, even more, Luke.

Yea he can pat himself on the  back for hitting with a 1 overall and 9 (two top 10 picks) even though we were picking that high for a reason. They were good picks in all seriousness which has little to do with RR being an idiot.

3 winning seasons out of 7.

No Cam and Rivera is out on the streets looking for another DC position.

But best coach in Panther(mediocre franchise) history!

I say that only because he adds to that mediocrity, not to rub it in.

I'm not congratulating him after his teams performance today. It did not seem like he had his team prepared for a playoff clinching home game vs a 4-10 opponent. He needs to check himself, along with the rest of the coaching staff

This. During the game everyone hates him and shula, but as soon as bareeeeely win hes back to being a good coach?

A win is a win,  and close wins happen week in and week out in the NFL.  That's just the nature of the game.  Rivera has always been a good coach. He could be a great one with better clock management and more of a killer instinct.

And we can thank DG for putting us in a great cap situation and giving us other huge pieces like Turner, Norwell, D. Williams, KK, Funch, etc.

Agree 100% top dawg. His 2013 season was spectacular coaching after the first 4 games. And then he completely forgot the "Riverboat" aspect of his coaching, which was truly amazing despite the hype of the nickname. Showed up again today with the fake punt, but still there have been WTF moments that he just shouldn't have any more--like punting for a net gain of like 15 yards earlier this year instead of a FG attempt. But overall Rivera is a very solid coach and we'd be hard pressed to find one better if we got rid of him.

I wonder what a lot of HCs records look like with Cam/Luke on the team.

Oh please.  Rivera has a similar career coaching record as Sean Payton, who most people on this board worship as an incredible coach.  Brees is a 1st ballot HOFer.  Give Rivera some credit.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
