Lol bringing up Cam Newton. Cam is the star on the team. He’s not getting cut.

Cam is growing his hair out as a rebellion...

I don't envy the spot he's in, though.

The football side of the Panthers and the business side of the Panthers are in separate areas of the building. Truth be told, Newton was probably never in a position to see any of the garbage that Richardson was pulling. As far as he would know, the real Jerry Richardson was no different than his public Image.

And then the story comes out...

Have you ever been in the position of defending someone that as far as you know is innocent, but having this little nagging voice in the back of your mind telling you that maybe they're not?

I have, and it sucks.

For my part, I honestly wish he would have given a 'no comment' to all those questions rather than saying anything.

Or giving everything we’ve learned recently sounds like you’re still reaching to stand up for an indecent man.

Give me a break. Not believing one guy doesn’t mean I’m standing up for another. I’ve never once defended JR on here or anywhere else

Marcus Ball is a career bottom of the roster guy. He’s been cut seven times in three years by four teams. What’s most likely? The owner cut him for putting his hand in the air or he was the roster churn guy when they needed to make a move?

sorry but that's being too rational. everything's racially and emotionally motivated these days.

really can't fathom why we're having a debate over a guy who's clearly been a practice squad talent at best all his NFL life.

It could be both. He could be a roster churn guy that was expendable in part at least due to non football actions or beliefs.

I don’t believe the two to be mutually exclusive.

i can agree with this.

i just doubt the whole reason was solely based on racism. could racism have played a part? probably.

but that's not the main reason a bottom roster churner got cut.

I read the article and think it’s some sour grapes from a marginal player.  I do agree with Ball that it’s pretty shitty that Richardson has players and coaches taking up for him and he want say a thing.  Stinks a little of cowardice on Richardson’s part.

Anything is possible. I just believe one is more probable.

Ball bringing up the dreads and tattoos seems like a huge reach, too. We’ve had players with dreads and tattoos for years and years. Robert Lester had almost no talent and stuck for a couple seasons. I could start a list of dread/tattoo guys, but it would take way too long.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
