Westbrook and Cole are nice but Lee (who I’m not a big fan of is a FA). They obviously still have Hurns under contract as well.

If I’m Jax I tag Robinson and let Lee walk. Re visit the situation in a year

I'd honestly take Lee.

I'd take any of their WRs.

Hell, I'd take any of any teams WRs at this point.

I’m not a huge Lee fan never have been. He’s literally the only USC WR in what seems the last 6 years I haven’t really liked.

Would I take Lee over what we have? Of course but again, like Ginn, given the FA pool I would set the bar higher

We don’t need just speed. We need speed with the ability to play football well. Samuel might end up that guy and Byrd is ok and fully capable of being a # 3 or 4 guy, but we need a starter with speed. Someone with at least decent routes that can catch. Some Me defensive coordinators have to gameplan against so that more of the field is opened up for Cam, Olsen and CmC. I for one don’t want to take the chance Samuel isn’t that guy. I want more of a sure thing brought in.

Nope,

You go into next season as if you've got nothing because that's what we got. So you upgrade the position as best you can adn like I said...as if we have poo. If Byrd or Samuel pan out then were in great shape and above and beyond. If we go into the season with just Byrd and Samuel then we're more likely to be in the predicament we were in this last game than not.

Competition, competition, competition. If Byrd and Samuel are our 3rd and 4th then we're doing damn good.

I really do hate this saying and I may get crushed for this but... the answer actually is on our roster currently.

Curtis Samuel - 4.31 40-yd dash at NFL combine. 20th best of ALL TIME

Damiere Byrd - 4.28 40-yd dash at his pro day. Obviously not comparable as he was not invited to the NFL combine.

Both of these players were not available for the most important game of our year. And yes, I know Samuel wasn't a world-beater prior to injury but he was hurt all offseason. I have a feeling if he is healthy for TC he will have an impact next year similar to what CMC had for us this year. We do have speed, it just was not present when we needed it.

The point of this is - we have much bigger holes elsewhere. Namely DE, CB, S, T, TE and potentially guard if Norwell leaves. We should not be wasting valuable cap space on WR or drafting one high when we saw flashes of what speed looked like throughout the year. Cam made Kaelin Clay look serviceable! Imagine what he will do with his full arsenal of weapons heading into next season.

I think the correct want...is a vertical threatening WR.   Just being fast....has proven itself to not be enough to check that box off.

This. You can always trade one of them for a pick later if they’re all looking solid...or you keep them in the event that you lose talent to injury....like this year.

The best posters are the ones that go “we signed a WR and some of you still aren’t happy, can’t ever please some of you” after we sign the Russell Shepard’s of the world.

Newsflash, just because someone is listed at WR doesn’t mean it’s what we need. We need 2 ACTUAL WRs this offseason

I agree to an extent with the OP. Both of those guys should provide more options for Cam on the field in terms of making big plays and stretching the field, IF they are utilized properly.

I have said it before and will continue saying it, Curtis Samuel needs to be mixed in at RB more to open up his true potential as a playmaker. Get creative and line him up all over the field.

Also, he is still learning the WR role. Plenty of growth can be seen from his rookie year to sophomore. He is not a bust, and will eventually stay healthy and produce on the field.

You can see Byrd is growing into a bigger role as well, and just needs to stay healthy.

I do not agree that the answer is already on the roster. We need a true #1 WR threat such as the AJ Green, Antonio Brown, Odell, etc of the world who can consistently make plays and force teams to double cover him.

That is still a necessity.

We really only need one receiver.  Someone with some size, good speed and good hands.  Funchess has improved enough to become one starter, we still need another.  Byrd and Samuel and CMC are fine coming off the bench in passing downs, operating in the slot, or out of the backfield, and even as a starter when one of the starters is injured.

Samuel is not a vertical threatening WR.  Wasn't college.   Wasn't as a rookie.  Likely won't be in the NFL.

More a slot type WR IMO.

We need an answer to that problem come week 1 of 2018

Your slot WR needs to be a natural hands catcher, Samuel is not.

By the time Samuel gets his body in front of the ball hes allowed the nickel to catch up and really limited his opportunity for yards after the catch.

well he is also a rookie. But he is more a CMC type player than anything.

He isn't a field stretcher.....which is what the offense desperate needs.
