THOUGHT ON MATT KALIL

Let's be real. There wasn't much Dave could do with LT his first 2 years in FA thanks to the cap disaster Hurney left us in. Oher was serviceable in 15 even with the SB and there really wasn't any way to predict the concussion.

I think Gman thought surgery and a new environment was going to fix Matt but it didn't. While he didn't do a lot to help it with Kalil this year, the previous 3 were out of his hands for the most part.

If he didn’t waste money franchising Hardy he could have done something. He also didn’t have to restructure gross’ to expire a year early either.

He also could have chose to draft one as well. Butler and Thompson were both luxury picks in the first round.

He saved money by letting Norman walk after pulling the tag and then blew that whole wad on Kalil.

There were other instances where he wasted precious cap space too.

Paul Soliai for example. Had the 8th biggest cap hit in 2016. The same year he drafted Butler to ride the pine. Total wasted just shy of 5 million

3.75 in cap hit in 16 and 1 million of dead in 17.

13.1 million in Hardy in 14

There’s more instances of course those just come to mind immediately and easily confirmed with a quick google search.

Also the year before Gettleman got here the salary cap was 120 million.

By 2015 it jumped to $143 million

and last year it was up to $167 million.

This year it will be 178 million. We are only rolling over 2.7 million from last year.

Leaving us with 15 million to play with this year and important contracts expiring. If we didn’t dump Benjamin’s 8.5 million for next year we’d only have 6.5 to play with.

He was so over rated it’s not even funny. Giants fans better hope he learned from his mistakes just as we should hope Hurney learned from his.

You obviously didn't pay attention to during the time Dave was here.

Oh, did ol' Dave find us a franchise left tackle? I wasn't aware. Last I checked we backed up a brinks truck to Matt Kalil who has been anything but good.

When you are signing a guy like Kalil who you know that he needs a new scenary, you dont give him a 5yr/55mil. You give him a 1-2 yr prove it deal. Like really, what’s the sole purpose of giving Kalil that much money? Based on what? His rookie year? or bc Ryan Kalil his brother was vouching for him?

Kalil's deal has an out after two years.

Lmaooo....kalil not doing a damn thing next year. Speed bump mcgee vol. 2

I really wish this coaching staff would have the balls to play the best players on the roster. Forget status, contracts, experience, etc.

It irritates the hell out of me. I wanna see what we have in moton next year, im not trying to wait till he is in year 3 of his deal and  finally getting significant playing time.

    • Not many people talking about DT, but we have a need.  (DE)  Now this guy is a NT like Brown III
    • But is it about letting Bryce develop or about winning games? Bryce has not been good enough to be an uncontested starter. He just hasn't. How many times has last drive Bryce shown up for 4 entire quarters? Once in 3 seasons? You aren't going to win 9 or 10 one score games every season year in and year out. You may want Bryce in the last 2 minutes. I want that Bryce the full 60.  No one is saying you have to give up on him, but bringing in another QB that can do anything is not hindering Bryce. It helps the team and that's where the focus needs to be. If drafting Sadiq to plague the middle of the field would help out offense, but Bryce struggles to get pass into the middle of the field, is Sadiq a bad pick? Or could he be a good pick with a better option at QB? We can't be afraid to improve. QB, TE, OL, LB, DL, CB, S. It doesn't matter. The goal is SBs, not 5 to 8 years seeing waiting to see if Bryce can develop while the rest of the league keeps passing us by.  Sadiq is a nice option, but I think we have to address tackle if one we like is there because we are painfully thin after this year, a LB to general the field, and a true ball hawking safety that can set the tone in the secondary. Those 3 positions are bigger game changers than a TE that will likely struggle to make a round 1 impact in this offense.
    • Lil Stanky 100% in the dot tonight... And our 2nd line has been our best offensive line this season. Maybe our 2C really was on the roster this whole time...?
