Carolina Panthers are now extinct

I live in WA now and hunt in both Oregon and Washington. I’m calling BS on “People can’t tell if it’s a Bobcat or Mountain Lion!” If you aren’t able to do that you have no reason to be in the woods! Cougars, Mountain Lion or whatever you want to call it are out there. They normally aren’t wanting to be found.

Side Note: When I was stationed in El Paso, TX there was a Mountain Lion scare in DOWNTOWN El Paso...

Washington and Oregon actually have them.  North Carolina doesn't.  There hasn't been a documented sighting of one NC in anyone that post here's lifetime.  And if you look at behavioral evidence from Psychology studies, people often make mistakes in identifying things they see, whether its thinking they see a Cougar, or describing an accident or crime they witness.  That is why Eyewitness reports of crimes are notoriously unreliable. And why people will swear they have seen black panthers, even though no such animal has ever existed in the US.

If so many of them are roaming around, you would think just once, there would be some evidence.  A picture, paw print, scat, etc...  Of course, maybe they are just shy and don't like having their picture taken.  :)

@Teach_Panther I’ve seen many (more than 7) Cougars and Bobcats out hunting! Heck one was less than 20ft from my father & I in some blackberry bushes letting us know by growling at us!!!! That was crazy scary.

that happened to me in guatemala. scariest moment of my life to date, jungle got all quiet and that fuger's guttural growl rumbled through a fuging bush ten feet in front of me. fug a panther (except ours)

Hmmm, that is funny.  You're not from the Linville Gorge area are you?

Yep. Absolutely. That's being realistic.

Foxes make all kinds of crazy sounds. They have a pretty tremendous vocabulary. Anytime you hear some crazy animal cry in the woods and are like "WTF was that???" it was likely a fox. It would be easy to mistake some of the sounds foxes routinely make for a mountain lion especially with echoes, etc. in mountainous terrain.

Lmfao go somewhere else with your "facts". Who confirms tha that anyway?

LOL! Yeah fug facts, right? Much better to rely on old wives tales.

Melanistic mountain lions simply don't exist. Big black cats are jaguars or leopards and there sure as hell aren't any of those roaming around the Carolinas.

I grew up in western NC. My family has been in the area since before this country even existed. The majority of the people I know were avid hungers, fisherman, hikers, etc. I know more than a few game wardens. None of them have ever seen a mountain lion in western NC nor sign of a mountain lion.

So your sources are just as credible as mine. Get off your high horse and quit being so close minded.

You can't possibly be this dumb. Do you understand how these things work? It isn't up to anyone to prove that these animals don't exist in the area as it's well established that there has been ZERO credible sign of their existence in the area for decades. It's up to those who think they do exist to prove it. They don't because they can't. They can't because they don't. It's really that simple.

But people like you think sasquatch is hanging out in a cave in western NC with his pet mountain lion and chupacabra.
