Any interest in Revis?

For me, theres intrest in almost any player. Young, old... known, unkown...

it all comes down to price. If its resonable and cheap I see no downside to bring in any player to come in and compete

those that are quick to dismiss or turn down a guy without giving much thought are turd brains.

Unless we can somehow either make him five years younger or hire him as a defensive backs coach, probably not.

Heck, how many people even knew he played for the Chiefs last year?

I did, only because I live in MO. He was quiet there except for the batted ball back to Mariota!

Coach or as a rotational player would be perfect.

Last time Panthers had a successful Vet CB they went on in that season to have the most INT's in franchise history & of course  a SB berth?

He was never the same DB after the 2010 holdout ( he got 4 yrs- $46M), then he did it again in 2012 and got traded to the Bucs in 2013. Then he signed a 5 yr- $70M deal. He was due an $8.8M roster bonus in March, which is why he's gone. Not to mention he'll be 33 before the season starts and he only played in 5 games for KC last season.

Short answer- no.

He had a very short servicable career, he was good for those couple years...and then he was horrible. I dont know how someone goes completely downhill that fast.

And DBs are a strange animal. A guy has a great year, 5-6 picks, couple of highlight reel-worthy pass defenses, maybe a corner blitz sack or 2 and the next thing you know, everyone is talking about how a QB will never again throw to his side.

Richard Sherman is a classic case in point. He had phenomenal back-to-back 2012 and 2013 seasons. Since then? Not so much. His short route coverage is good, but will get toasted on the deep ball without help. Plays well in the middle of the field, but out routes and RB wheel routes get the best of him when he has to come up on the LOS.

yea but sherman is still a solid corner, Josh Norman is still a solid corner. I've seen like Nnamdi Asomugha and guys like that who get put on a pedestal based off one or two good years and then turns out they just had a good year and aren't actually good, but even Nnamdi was still a starter, like...Revis went from being the best cornerback Deion Sanders said he'd ever seen...to not even being good enough to be a starter.

This is why I've always said that Earl Thomas was the key to the Legion of Boom. At their peak, they had two big, physical corners who didn't have great range and essentially an undersized LB playing SS. It was Thomas' sideline to sideline range playing over the top taking away the deep third that made it all work.

There's interest in Revis every offseason. and it seems people forget the reasons we never sign him. he's an old diva that is a shell of his former self and is used to getting paid like he's getting his second contract. we can safely dismiss him outright and rest assured we are making the right choice as armchair GMs.

now im off to see if Hakeem Nicks still wants to play..........

    • Tanking in the NFL isn’t really a thing and anybody wanting to bring the rigged lottery to the NFL has an ulterior motive.
    • I understand where you're coming from, but we need another safety IMHO. Other positions, especially on defense, dont have ideal depth, but to me at least S is the one position we can't stand pat at even when thinking about the future
    • 100%. Nick Scott was awful last year. Like, even for a franchise that hasn't historically invested in that position, it stood out for how awful it was. If he sees meaningful snaps at S again we're cooked.  Maybe he has value for ST, but I certainly hope we can upgrade. Jordan Fuller, who was by all accounts an Evero guy, was almost as bad. Xavier Woods was bad, but not complete garbage. Still did not want him back. Those 3 guys seriously may have been the worst S group in the NFL. And they all were brought in, especially Fuller, as good fits for this system. Everyone knocks the defensive line, and they deserve a lot of blame, too, but so, so many times our safeties inability to tackle let 4-5 yard runs turn into 10+. And it happened over and over and over again if you watch the film. Honestly, Demani Richardson was the only S by the end of the year I remember making positive plays. I have no issue with Richardson being in the mix and/or competing to be a starter, but we still need another S desperately IMHO who has actually played meaningful snaps in the NFL. The only caveat/excuse for our secondary was the fact our pass rush was nonexistent for large stretches last year. Maybe that helps with coverage, but I dont see how that makes any of these guys better at tackling.  I know it somewhat feels like piling on at this point, but I feel 100% confident in saying this was the worst tackling team in franchise history. The 70ish yard pass play we gave up to Jamarr Chase where he ran through and past everyone in the secondary has to be up there in terms of most embarrassing plays I've ever seen. I can't imagine how embarrassed Kuechly must have been watching from the booth... I think bringing back Evero was a mistake, but for a team that has had nothing but change over the past 5 years, I'm willing to see this through. I definitely think we added significantly to the floor of this defense with the additions we made. I dont think Evero has any further excuses if he cant field a unit that can at least somewhat hold their own. Fixing the safety play is going to be a big part of that.
