If Norwell exits, enter Moton?

So,  Bill Voth thinks Norwell is gone and that no tag is forthcoming this year, as referenced by Tim Weaver of USA Today. But the thing that surprised me is that according to Weaver,  Taylor Moton might be the guy expected to replace him.  It might not be a bad idea.

And here we are thinking that maybe Moton could replace Speed Bump (one can only hope) , but it looks like the plan is to replace White Buffalo if all else fails.

Panthers can’t afford Norwell. I’d rather them bolster the roster elsewhere. Moton seems intelligent and has the physical makeup to be a solid player anywhere on the OL

I just want him on the field. He seems to have the “it” factor you look for in an offensive lineman. Size, smarts, and athleticism.

We will see where he fits...would be nice if he was a solid LT, but would rather him be at the position he thrives at...so I’d settle for a pro bowl LG over an average LT I suppose.

I’d be for it. Slide trai over to the left to help Matt and insert Moton into RG next to Daryl. Cut Matt after this season and give some of that to Daryl. Draft a tackle in the first or second in this upcoming draft, or be active but not Santa Claus in next years FA market.

I've been thinking about it. Moton,  Butler, Hall and Samuel should be expected to step up in a big way this year, so maybe our holes really aren't as big as some think.

One thing I can say about Hurney is that he likes to lock up home grown talent. Expect the tag.

Many of us have been saying that we expect Moton to be the front runner for the job.  Yesterday, Mr. Scott posted an article on the Panther network that featured Moton's flexibility.  In fact, I was not happy when we drafted him to be a T because all I had read projected him to G.  He supposedly (as a Jr) dominated Ohio State DTs at G and was a bit raw at T. 

I think knowing they have a good player at LG (Moton needs to play) allows them the luxury of letting Norwell go.  Not ideal, but with the cap, nothing is.

I hope we draft a LT this year.

To me, the mystery of the OL is C. We need to cut Ryan Kalil.

I have said that we have several players that were raw when we drafted them, making the 2017 draft limited to CMC and that is it.  It is like we are getting 2 drafts this year.  

Moton:  Raw, small school OL--needed a year.

Samuel:  RB/WR combo player who would need to develop skill set as a pure slot WR.  Then the injuries came.

Hall:  Weak.  had gone from a string bean to a tall, lean athlete, but needed a year or even 2 of strength training and technique before he would be ready. He will play a bigger role this year--if in this draft (2018), Hall would be a second rounder without a doubt.

Armah: Played several positions in college and was very raw.  I think he could be a bigger asset in 2018---and a weapon in the passing game.

Elder:  Corn is a small nickel who was IR'd early.  He is confident, aggressive, etc.  expecting big things.

So yeah, we get these players.  Moton and Hall are the wildcards---we need them to step up.

Moton is intriguing as a G or C.  I never thought he had the agility / feet to play outside, but some of the tape on him from earlier in his college career he looked really strong inside.  I think some others have mentioned how he was able to handle some quality college DT's as a G.

I had actually never considered him as a C, but there are a lot of folks who think he's got good football intelligence - and that's one of the things that sets a good C apart from a good G.

Does anyone know if we tag him and he still walks next season do we forfeit the comp pick or do we still get one?
