Not sure if people who don't have connections to the organization are aware of this, but Hurney had two offers and possibly a third in play as well. He stayed behind in Charlotte to consult Jerry - he was wielding a decent amount of power behind the scenes during his "years away". Big part of why we didn't suck as hard as we could've.

Okay, confirmed...seems like people literally are not aware of this.

Hint, folks - when a top GM leaves his position and his only new title is "radio show host" there's a little more to the story.

The Panthers are/were a family organization, and Hurney was de facto consigliere during his period on the outs.

You know how in The Godfather, Tom Hagen was "out" for a while but he wasn't really?

Do any of you people have jobs or work for family companies, or have experience with how the real world works?

There is zero point in freaking out about this. We could be less than 6 weeks away from having a new owner who will have no loyalty to Marty Hurney whatsoever. Yes, it sucks that he'll get to run free agency and the draft one last time, but there's a very good chance Tepper will fire Hurney on day one.

Good, now we have some  stability going in to next season. So can we start locking all threads from the crybabies who wanna start threads just to bash Hurney repeatedly?

Time to move on.

Just like when we ensured continuity by naming Mike Shula offensive coordinator.

That was a good decision, right?
