No compensatory picks

The NFL announced the compensatory picks for this year's draft.  None for Carolina.

Not only did we give Russell Shepard the contract we should've given Ted Ginn, but by giving him that contract we ensured ourselves that we wouldn't get a comp pick for Ginn either.

Just absolutely awesome all the way around.

I guess getting that 3rd round pick for KB wasn't a bad move by GM Hurney.

Likely to be a different story next year when we get the highest third available for Norwell and a 5th for Star. 

I anticipate us being very quiet in free agency this year.

But they do not have W-L-T Draft Picks in the standings.  When Funchess got hurt at the end of the season, we had nothing.  Season over--because he traded away the #1 WR DURING A PLAYOFF RUN.

I like the trade, personally, but the timing is important.  We got nothing for a serviceable player--the move weakened our team during the season.  There is no way around it---it was dumb and Hurney was just trying to show folks that he is legit---he always puts himself before team, which is why he sucks.

Letting Ginn walk to a Division rival and replacing him with Russell Shepard was moronic on Gettleman’s part. That and the J-No saga should remind all of us DG was not without his faults

I don't fully understand the how the Compensatory picks work.

Will we get any picks added for this Year (2018) after we lost Star & Norwell to free agency?

Year early. You get picks the year after you lose people. Right now we are slated to get a 3rd for Norwell, nothing for Star (Poe) and maybe a late round for Dickson. Those would be in 2019.

Poe cancelled out Star comp of a possible 4. So far its possible for a 3 for Norwell and a 6  for Dickson.  Besides ave salary, play time and awards figure in.  If we sign other CUFA players we will lose these picks

True, but to be fair you don't get to chose the destination of the player you decide to move on from.

Gettleman should have let J-No play on the tag, period. He was the author of the stupidity.
