Camp bodies don't get signed this early in FA much. He's going to have an inside track at a roster spot though it probably won't be guaranteed if we draft a guy or two who come in and outperform him. Funch and Samuel are 100% locks, Byrd is probably close to a lock as well. Smith, Wright, rookies and any other FAs we sign will compete for the spots with Smith and Wright likely to be kept. Shep probably gone with this signing, though there's no reason to hurry cutting him.

Russell Shepard pretty much incinerated my willingness to build confidence in wide receivers signed off the bottom of other teams depth charts.

Does he have consistent hands?

Panthers want to get faster. It's been a few years, but Jarius Wright ran a 4.42 at the 2012 combine coming out of Arkansas.

This is the sort of player last year's team SORELY lacked.  This guy instantly becomes our possession receiver and probably the 2nd best on the roster behind Funchess.

Benefit if nothing else, could mean saying goodbye to Shepard.  Maybe not right now, but don't see how he survives training camp.  Save money, either Wright or a draft pick are better...win win.

78% and 72% catch % the last two seasons, which is tremendous efficiency.

I was just fixing to say the same thing. Still giving Cam scrubs at wr this is getting old. This will be just like last year with the Charles Johnson and Russell Sheppard signings, garbage.
