With Worley done, the 2016 draft looks like one of our worst ever

1. Vernon Butler
2. James Bradberry
3. Daryl Worley
4. Zack Sanchez
5. Beau Sandland

The only two left on the roster are Bradberry and Butler. Butler has done next to nothing, and Bradberry is... fine. Worley was never that good, Sanchez is on the practice squad, and Sandland never played a down for us.

This is just after two years and it's this bad. Butler might be gone in a year or two, and Bradberry isn't even a given for being a long-term starter either.

Is it really too early to say, or are we just loathe to admit it was that bad?

2 years in is too early to say especially when the players have showed flashes. Most corners don't get fully up to speed until year 3 or 4, Bradberry can still very well get there. He's way ahead of where Josh was this far in. And Butler hasn't even gotten a chance yet and has dealt with injuries. No it wasn't a good draft so far but things can easily change in a year or two.

I really don't think it can turn into a very good draft. I appreciate your hopefulness, but it's not very realistic at this point.

I also completely disagree on him compared to Norman. He's nowhere near the level of shutdown corner Norman proved he could be by 2014.

Depends on Butler.   He played fairly well at the end of last season.  If he improves, and becomes a player, then its not a bad draft.  In reality, keeping 2 out of 5 is about par for the course for most NFL drafts.

At what point in 2012 or 2013 did Josh Norman prove anything resembling a shutdown corner? Is that why he barely played in 2013 and didn’t even start until mid 2014. What about that is proven?

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
