Not really surprised, as I referenced Matt Harmon saying that it was a realistic possibility weeks ago. I'm kinda still on the fence. I think Moore may have the it-factor, and higher upside. But Ridley is the safer pick in my estimation. He just doesn't light my pilot light like Moore, but perhaps his pro game will provide some untouched gas.

Maybe Moore has had some great workouts as well that have caused him to hurdle Ridley in some analysts' mocks.

Moore has just been better in the post season workouts and Ridley avoided contact much of the time at Bama.  Dont see that with Moore.  We are talking about him here but the likelyhood of him making it to 24 is dropping fast.

Honestly I feel we are okay at WR. Funchess is a solid #2 who is young and is improving, he could easily end up being a good wr#1.

Torrey Smith is a solid #2 WR with lots of experience and 2 rings. He’s always been a #2 or top WR wherever he’s been.

Jarius Wright is one of the best 3rd down WR in the game. He can be a solid #3/slot WR for us. He’s been buried behind some good WR in Minnesota, so don’t sleep on him.

Byrd and Samuel have had injuries but have lots of potential. If they can stay healthy, expect big things from them.

thats 5 WR right there. So do we really need another WR? He’s not going to get a lot of playing time unless an injury occurs. I say if we draft a WR let’s draft one in the 3rd round and focus on a player who can help us immediately, not sit on the bench.

this comes down to Defensive back,(cb,safety), tight end or offensive line.

Definitely wrong bro

I know you've got a huge tight end bias man but I Don't see how you can be so sold on our wr's...biggest difference in the playoff game was New Orleans WRs caught clutch passes when Brees needed them too and ours didnt..wanting a successor to Olsen is one thing...but as things stand right now I have more confidence CAP can backup/change up for CMC more than any wr on our team outside of funchess can be counted on and grabbing a late rd guy to throw into the mix of "maybe they can stay healthy, maybe they can step up" group seems like a foolish bet to make twice in a row

Funchess is in the last year of his contract..and none of the smith, wright, Samuels , Byrd group would keep a Moore or Ridley off the field...we can't love the bottom of our roster too much.

No particular order but Wr,Cb, De, Ot should be the pick in the first. My preference is WR or Cb, And only WR if Ridley or Moore are still on the board. Funchess is in a contract year and everyone else is either injury prone or a stop gap. Cb is a position that has been ass since Norman left and since gamble retired, the mindset of just having a good front seven that can carry the secondary has backfired year after year.  I prefer cb early and WR in the 2-3 rds

But that's assuming that any WRs will be taken before our pick. I believe that there is only one sure team that will pick a receiver. That would be the Cowboys, but they are in love with Sutton (if you believe all the rumors during this lying season). He is right in there backyard though, so they should know him.

And that's the biggest reason why I believe if one of our top WR prospects is on the board, that we're taking them. People seem to have actually forgotten that but for our WR corps, we likely beat New Orleans.

I don't know about this.. Wr transitioning to the nfl are hard and not a sure thing day one in a good draft.. All these WR have ? And Smith and Wright know the system already and have specific roles...

as long as Rivera is our coach, our best chance at winning it all is to have a stellar year on defense.  I trust Cam and Norv can keep the offense afloat this season.  I would love to see us put together a secondary to compliment the front seven for once.  I would take the best DB available.

I agree with this..

    • If you think the NFL or NBA are worried about lawsuits or something like officiating scandals bringing down their empires, I think you're giving them way too much credit.  Go watch the documentary on Tim Donaghy in the NBA and who was involved and what he did.  One of the guys he worked with is still one of the league's top trusted officials, especially for playoff games.  IIRC, they have records showing he was the person Donaghy exchanged phone calls with the most during his time fixing games.  And his reputation is beyond horrible...  but he's untouchable.  I also encourage you to go watch DeMaurice Smith's Breakfast Club interview.  He laid out how for fans, we just know these organizations as a singular, public entity - like THE Carolina Panthers, or THE Dallas Cowboys- but, in actuality, he said that is the public-facing identity of an umbrella company comprised of countless smaller businesses and LLCs.  He is tasked with trying to audit their books, and he said these organizations are structured in such a way that even HE can't ever know what they truly make in a year.  It's impossible.  And now, this is just me speculating on top of that, but you think the league's themselves are structured similarly?  They are untouchable.  IIRC, they are recognized legally as "entertainment" organizations, thus protecting themselves in cases where integrity would come into question.  They are protected, layer, behind layer, behind layer.  Betting works because there is some degree of control that ensures the house wins more than it loses, by a lot.  The short of it is, "Give them bread and circuses" and all that jazz.  These leagues operate with total impunity.  Again, it's not just because I'm a Panthers fan, but even if I wasn't and I watched Superbowl 50 without a dog in the fight I would walk away feeling like that outcome was controlled and influenced HEAVILY to where the Panthers were not given a level playing field.  The same poo happens every Sunday to teams playing those blue blood franchises and ones with intriguing storylines.
    • This Chuba isn't getting traded, but Rico very well could be in a few weeks if he keeps playing well in a tandem backfield with Chuba also playing well. I think we'd end up going with a two headed monster in that case, but with Rico being on a one year deal, it does open up the possibility of a contending team offering up a decent pick for him.  Depending on the recovery of Hampton, I could see someone like the Chargers giving us a 4th for him if they think he could put them over the top, he would fit nicely in a Harbaugh system I think. If it comes to that, we need to make that trade, as I can't see any way we re-sign Rico with all our other needs and getting Brooks back too.  And he's not going to get a contract big enough to get us any comp picks in return, especially if/when we sign a FA or two ourselves.  So if we're not going to bring him back, the prudent decision would really be to get a draft pick for him at the deadline.
    • It's all about what they do at QB. It's clear the rest of the roster is improving. If they commit long term to Young because he's being carried to wins then we're fuged. I think that's a separate issue to finally being competitive again.  There's no QB in this Draft that's going to ride in on his white horse on day one and save us, so we absolutely shouldn't be playing for Draft position.
