Literally the worst draft in Panthers history

Doesn't trade up. Plays safe for his token 1st round gem. Trades back multiple times and doesn't address holes. We don't have a backup QB. JT Barrett in 7th would have been nice. Linebackers galore and defensive tackle when we have plenty. Adios hurney

#2 WR/Offensive Playmaker : ✓

#2/3 CB who can play man and zone : ✓

FS who can cover the slot and also tackle and blitz : ✓

#2 TE who can block and catch: ✓

More pass rush : ✓

LB/Dline depth : ✓

Idk man we filled a lot of holes.

How predictable, and pretty dumb.

Yeah this draft was. Typical hurney conservatism. JR was in his ear. What was the point of having the extra third to just trade back and take camp fodder? When we could have literally thrown that to trade for something worth the damn. Hurneys ego is unbelievable.

If history can repeat itself AGAIN, we have a legit WR now! Makes this draft worth something! Who knows, we may get lucky and have a stud among the rest of the draft but I wouldn’t get my hopes up as it has only happened 3 times, 4 including Mathis. Hitting like the Saints did last year is rare, however, take comfort that we will have a new GM drafting next year and WR shouldn’t be a pressing need

Time will tell with Moore.

Corner who will not start.

Free Safety who wasn't a free safety.

#2 te for depth chart. That guy has no production.

We have plenty of pass rush and do depth. At that point we needed qb/rb/true safety

fuging boring and the whitest draft ever.

Got a possible true number 1 WR (first time since Smith left and Cam approves). Got a fast starting CB to compliment Bradberry. Got a starting safety that can line up and guard TEs and slot WRs. Got a TE that needs a year or two behind Olsen and could develop into our starter. Lastly got younger depth for our defensive line and linebackers late in the draft. Seems solid to me. I mean it’s always going to be a gamble and every guy you want will not get drafted by the Panthers (we are lucky they drafted one in D.J. Moore that most of us wanted).

Pretty sure he will emerge as the no.1 WR and I was against the pick!

CB will be #3 for awhile, then perhaps cut loose, but who knows

The S will be our Colin Jones 2.0

Ian Thomas is intriguing! He may be Hurney’s fifth ever Non 1st rounder to become a legit starter.

The rest are camp fodders. Accept it. Norton may push Love for a roster spot and the LB from UNC could be good depth and Mayo insurance on the short term.

Hurney absolutely did not make the "safe" picks on day one or two (when it really really matters), he chose the guys with the it-factor and higher upside. He did this with our round 4 pick as well. After that, it was all about value and upside. No need to reach with even late round picks when you can probably patch any more perceived holes with seasoned vets.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
