Just for a year, but still, why? He's presided over one winning season in four and drafted the Bucs current headcase quarterback.

Panthers related? Yeah, in that it's something all of us can have a good chuckle about.

I mean, maybe he's buddy buddy with this owner?

Why did we fire a GM (1 year removed from being named NFL GM of the year) who won the division 3 times and made a superbowl in 4 seasons, to rehire the former GM (a former beat writer) who was fired after losing seasons including the worst in all of football where we ended up drafting a QB at #1.

Who knows whats going om behind the scenes

We recently re-hired a guy who we had previously fired for tanking the roster and leaving us in cap hell and a guy who couldn't so much as get a phone call from another NFL team to be a water boy. I've liked Hurney's moves so far and I really hope this whole thing winds up with a fairy tale ending, but from where we sit right now we honestly can't laugh at anyone's GM decisions because we just made one of the most baffling GM decisions in NFL history.

I'm just not willing to cut Hurney slack or go the 'well this time it's good so far' route. His total body of work is deep in the negative territory. There are better options we should explore, and the fact I can say that easily is enough from me to cheer that happening asap.

Buc's kinda look like they are mailing it in. Their coach and GM are poop. Their organization is poorly run and it starts with ownership and as we all know, poop rolls downhill. In this case it seeps downhill cause their product has been diarrhea since they won the SB. I would put Miami in this category without the SB.

You're definitely not wrong. I'm just blindly hoping for the best because... well, it's pretty much either that or wallow in negativity. I'll choose blind optimism for the time being.

JR and Hurney spent years destroying my hope. That well was pretty shallow. Tepper is tapping it again but I have zero hope for Hurney. I just want the divorce this time to not require the smoldering remains of this team. I have a ton of positivity for aspects of the Panthers right now, just none for Hurney. Once he is gone, the sky is the limit for me. I am so much more excited to watch games this year versus last year.

I think the whole organization is going to be on a pretty tight leash this year. They likely all know that there's a new sheriff in town who wouldn't mind in the least bringing in his own people so if they want to keep their jobs they better show him why they're the best people for the job.

I agree! This is another reason for hope, I'm just antsy to get on with it. I would probably be out of being a football fan if I was a Bucs fan at this point. Why do they have hope if their organization keeps wallowing in the muck, doing and saying the same stuff year in and year out while doing crap like this? At least we were competitave and won every other year. These guys live on scraps.

Fair point, sadly

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
