Major Rule (Point of Emphasis Change)

Recommended Posts

What if the ball carrier takes off near the goal line and turns his body (like a high jumper), crossing the line feet first? Not saying it makes much sense as a TD tactic, but it could happen. I'm guessing they'd rule it a TD. And what's the difference between running out of bounds at the goal line, with the ball hitting the side line marker (a TD), and diving out of bounds while also hitting the TD marker?

Rules are supposed to clarify. I suspect that the upcoming season will be defined and impacted by the lack of clarity with the rule changes. The greater the discretion given to officials, the greater the disparity in application. A disparity in application creates inconsistent and unfair results.

BTW, it is also going to make coaching that much more important and difficult.

Lol are you guys being serious?

This obviously won’t affect things such as leaps.  It’ll be like when Cam plops to the ground head first rather than when he does his always awkward looking slide feet-first.

At this point it is hard to say.......that is a big part of the problem.

I hope you are right; however, it would not be a touchdown if that player went feet first even though their feet entered the end zone and they were never touched. Thus, it may remain the case if a player dives head first. The bottom line is that it is unclear. I sure hope that teams are given more information than we are getting.

Someone didn’t read the article, which began clearly quotes a line judge as saying leaping for the first down marker when being met by a defender will end with the ball being spotted where the person starts the leap, aka dive.

Players who dive will now be treated the same as players that slide.....even at the goal line. This will definitely greatly impact Cam. I wonder if it will apply to players who dive into the end zone for effect rather than need.

I think we should just reset all NFL rules and start from zero again... bring back the jersey's printed with a football image on the front... I'm looking at you Pop

Yeah I think this rule is like when a player gives himself up. I don't think they're gonna stop the play whenever someone dives.

    • Clean ACLs really are not. He is already running on it. There are more complicated injuries where ACLs tear with other things that can cause more serious injuries. I think that’s where the confusion comes in.
    • Try to reduce the amount of soda that you consume on a daily basis. Soda is packed with sugars and carbohydrates, which can cause cause a poor reaction with your skin. Instead of soda, try drinking water or flavored water as an alternative to your meals during the day or night. Try using some kind of mist moisturizer instead of just using plain water. Plain water only hydrates your skin for a short while and will end up drying out your skin. Moisturizing your skin with a mist form of it is a lot easier to apply then a topical cream. Finding the right product for your skin type is a very important factor in making your skin look nice and healthy. If you have dry skin, you would not want to use products that were designed for oily skin. Make sure you research what the products you use are for, and your skin will thank you for it. After you take a shower or a bath or just wash your face, pat dry with a soft towel. Vigorous rubbing will damage the skin. In addition, leaving a little bit of water on your skin will help keep it from drying out and make it easier to apply an after-shower moisturizer.
