We have the best potential OL starting crew...

..for who was on our roster going into the preseason:

LT M. Kalil: We're not getting worse but we're not getting better here...contract lock

LG Van Roten: He showed up when needed last year, has the experience, is not a thrown to the wolves UDFA.  Best run blocking OG outside of Turner which is big.

C R Kalil: Self-explanatory

RG Turner: Self-explanatory

RT Moton: Honestly, he has a bigger upside than Williams and it is why he was a 2nd rounder.  Dion Dawkins taken 1 pick before, Moton has really good potential and has a bit more turn than Daryl.  He has a ceiling to protect from the speedy and the power in a really effective manenr.

So there it is.

Adios

I think the line the will be fine. These guys have to stay healthy though and I applaud Daryl for making an attempt at a return.

If Ryan can stay healthy then that will do a lot to maintain consistency for us. That lets Larsen float around the guard positions

We had two All-Pros on our OL last year. One is gone and the other is going to miss an undetermined period of time. We're getting back our former All-Pro center. Hopefully Turner will bounce back from a somewhat disappointing performance last year. Regarding Turner, and Norwell, I hope that we're not looking back in a couple of years forced to acknowledge that we re-signed the wrong OG.

I’d still like to think it’s possible that Matt kalil plays like he did his rookie year (Lol). I’m not saying it’s likely, but... I mean, idk

lets just say every year he lies and says he’s healthy, but this year he’s actually healthy! Bam! Now we have a stop sign not a speed bump.

Think moton will be solid. Whoever wins LG might not be so great but probably better than AS so that’s a win. Ryan kalil still not playing? Still pissed about last season. Someone needs to spill the beans on wtf happened bc I don’t buy this sleep funny oww I broke my neck poo one bit

Swap out Amini and Williams and is it really that much different? worse? better?

I'm excited about Moton but Williams was 2nd team all pro for a reason last year and to expect Moton to be even close to that is a stretch. We've barely seen him outside of jumbo packages in real game time. I'd temper expectations with him, but I am sure glad as hell we have him behind Williams.

Turner was helping the Center spot a bunch last year. Moton looked really good as well. I think Thursday showed a OC with good game flow can counter a good defense and pass rush. You could also see our line was still not pushing the Dline yet we still moved the ball. Something Shula didn't do.

Unpopular opinion. I know. But Taylor Moton starting makes our right side better. Daryl Williams was overrated honestly, and Moton’s superior athleticism is certainly showing already. Had a strong showing against the Bills.

Of course, I’ll let Moton continue to prove that down the road. Hopefully, he will so that we don’t have to worry about the right side of the OLine with Daryl Williams out.

Left side. As long as Amini doesn’t start, it’s not a catastrophe. Hopefully Mahon and Van Roten continue their strong performances.

Moton has the feet to play LT in the future for sure.

    • The preference for smallish NTs was bizarre to me. I mean, you're already looking for a bit of a unicorn with a NT anyway trying to find a guy who can consistently hold his ground against double teams. Now you want to find a smaller, quicker guy who can do it? Yeah, good luck with that...
    • Yep. I had 2 shoulder surgeries (same shoulder) in college. What you say is true because the joint is a ball-in-socket joint and not like a knee, which is a hinge joint.  Another reason (this from my orthopedic surgeon) it is more difficult to overcome is because people want and need to walk, so they are constantly rehabbing the knee.  You can protect the shoulder and avoid using it.  And you can play with a banged up shoulder because it does not reduce your game speed much.  As long as I kept my arm in tight (close to my rib cage) I was fine--but when I extended my arm, I felt vulnerable and it was weaker, it seemed. A shoulder issue was common with LBs.  I don't recall seeing a LB in the dressing room without a surgical scar on is shoulder.
    • F- pick. Taking a hurt RB is the dumbest thing a team starved for tallent could have done in the 2nd. As for planning for 2025, they could have just waited since he brought nothing to 2024. That entire argument that they were playing the long game is like such a copout, just admit it was busted from every angle. They bet poorly and lost. It was a dumb pick and a complete waste of a chance to pick up a meaningful player this team still desperately needs. Picks like that is why this team is picking top 10 ever y year.
