What’s your solution to the tackle situation?

Obviously there isn’t an abundance of tackles just sitting at home right now waiting for a call. At this point if you’re willing to play and you’re listed as a tackle you have a job.

So with that in mind what is your solution?

The Raiders were asking Penn to restructure and have since moved him to right tackle after drafting Kolten Miller in the 1st. Penn is said to be willing to play RT so the Raiders may not even be willing to trade him anymore but I think you have to at least make a call.

The Panthers did this to themselves when they signed Kalil expecting something different, anyone who was willing to view the signing for what it was saw this coming a mile away. So if it costs you a 2nd rounder to find a replacement so be it. Moton can play the other tackle spot so we just need to find one tackle... but who!?!?

And Ben McAdoo was recently quoted saying Ereck Flowers can’t play either tackle position because he can’t bend. Flowers has been awful but before you throw his name out there I figured I’d add that.

There really isnt a Tackle out there that we could get without overspending (draft picks especially). Tackles are a hot commodity in the NFL which is why they are throwing around ridiculous contracts at starting caliber LT and RT. I think our best bet right now is to stick with Moton at LT until Kalil is healed up and find a guy after the first round of cuts.

I have no idea. I think the most likely solution is shopping the waiver wire after final roster cuts. The reality though is that good OTs are few and far between and the odds of a decent one being available on the FA market or via trade are pretty slim. Our best case scenario is that Moton plays well at RT and Williams can return soon.

Really the only significant injury to the line is Daryl Williams. Amini and Matt didn't make a difference since they are so bad. If anything, we've improved since those two are down.

I can somewhat buy the "addition by subtraction" line of reasoning but now we are in dangerous territory as far as depth. That is the biggest concern. And, if we thought Kalil and Amini were starting caliber....what does that say about our existing depth quality? Yikes.

It means Rivera can't evaluate for poo on the offensive side of the ball

    • Good read and stuff under it is not bad either. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/article/panthers-cb-jaycee-horn-says-184519429.html
    • While I'd love to add him, it just doesn't make sense for where we are at in our re-build right now. The only teams who should be interested are those who have a very legitimate shot at winning the SB this season, as any team who makes the trade is going to be mortgaging their future to make the move. Teams who make these kinds of trades and then give them the massive contract, in the hopes that it will expedite their path to contention, ALWAYS ends up backfiring because they have to give up the 1st round picks that are then needed to help build out the rest of the roster after eating up such a significant chunk of the cap on the new contract. There is no way the Cowboys trade him for anything less than 2 future 1st rounders (and probably more), plus we'll have to make him the highest paid non QB in league history.  Not to mention that it would then have made the Scourton and/or Princely picks a bit of a waste, as those 2nd and 3rd round picks would have been better off used on a ILB or DB
    • Like his approach to pre season that's ro get them out there and play together for a few plays and right about the night before and morning before.  Maybe we can come out the gate on fire I can smell the smoke from here!!   Go Panthers
