What the hell are you talking about? I had A LOT of fun in my twenties with the ladies and drinks, just now going into my thirties, and I never had any issues whatsoever. Sure some may come across come shitty luck but MOST stem from stupidity and poor choices. If you want to argue the law, join politics, write letters do whatever but until then, the law is the law...choose your actions accordingly and watch your back.....or don't.

But if you're not smart enough to realize this then deal with the consequences.

I'm pretty sure he is referring to the fact that you can get an assault citation solely due to accusations. You can watch your back 24/7, but if a someone who has a grudge against you can get you fined/cited just because he/she said you did something there's not a whole lot you can do about it, based on that law.

It's a misdemeanor with a max $500 fine so he could plead guilty and avoid court, pay the fine. But would that lead to a civil suit from the lady? She's claiming harm, the police report says no injuries.

I think he'd be better off pleading no contest, as opposed to guilty, if he's gonna go that route.

As usual, many here will defend Butler and say he was innocent.  This kind of stuff happens sooooo much that I quit feeling sorry for players that put themselves in this position years ago.  The window in the NFL is so short and a player like Butler has the opportunity to make life changing amounts of money.  Why on earth he thinks hanging out in a club late is a smart move is beyond me.  Sure, he's young and wants to have fun, but go party and have fun after your career is over.

What if she set herself aflame and he was trying to put her out, and the push was to push her on the ground to exterminate said flames?

Considering what the police deal with every day this is probably something they'd prefer to not be involved with and probably are because Butler is a famous athlete.  Having said this, Butler needs to be disciplined by the Panthers because no man should act like this.

So maybe he just threatened someone, and didn't actually hit them.  Bad enough, but not the end of the world for him.
