The Saints traded for Bridgewater

I look at it like this: trading Bridgewater to be a backup is a god tier move by the Saints. But if they're thinking that Bridgewater is going to Brees possibly in 2019, I'm not worried about that in the slightest.

The chasm between Teddy Bridgewater and Taylor Heinicke is pretty massive though.

I doubt they think he'll be Brees but he could very well be a top 10-15 starter.

Eh. I'm as worried about this as others seem to be. Let them have him. He woulda been a good backup here, but Cam has proven very resilient. If we lose Cam, our season is probably over no matter who the backup is.

Just not something I feel like wringing my hands over. Especially when resources we might have used to secure Bridgewater can now still go toward some OL pickups after cuts.

    • It's definitely a historical issue at QB but to be perfectly blunt, we also don't do a good job of really developing almost any position if you look at the last decade or so. I tend to be on the side of that being far less a development issue than an evaluation deficiency.  I think we are in the situation at QB2/3 recently due to the overall roster being absolutely abhorrent and the QB classes being quite thin. It is harder to justify another Matt Corral(or several) when you can potentially get a real two deep contributor at other positions.  But, it was a lot of hard work to get to the point where are roster is so incredibly bad that luxury picks literally are not in our vocabulary.  This is the reaping what you sow portion of our history.
    • That is what I meant about our front office. They are like someone filling out a March Madness bracket based on preference of uniform colors and mascots. There's no rhyme of reason to some of these fugg'n mind numbing decisions they make.  They go all in on these flimsy-@ss prospects and are gun shy when it comes to more solid prospects.  It's literally maddening and the reason I stopped being so emotionally involved in this team. Heck the only reason I'm active on the board today is one, it's my day off and two, it's cut down time.
