When was the last season this team had a decent o-line

2015 the oline played extremely well outside of the Falcons loss and the Superb Owl loss. Oher was great at LT and Remmers except for those 2 losses played phenomenal at RT.

I don't remember any stories about how the Panthers got to the SB with a bad OL. Wasn't great but decent, yeah.

This makes no sense. Turner, Kalil and Williams all being out means we don’t value OL? How many teams would be in good shape with three starters hurt? We sacked Prescott 6 times and they were missing one starter and had a real backup. I will agree that I thought Hurney could have gotten a solid G/C (not Mahon) and a T late, but thank goodness we took Moton in the 2nd in 2017. Outside of Ryan, and one could argue Larsen is more effective, our entire OL was drafted or picked up from 2014-2017. That doesn’t include the turd, but does include two LGs, two LTs, RG, C and RT. God forbid we actually ignored it.

It’s just injuries. 2015 and 2016 started with the same OLs, one stayed healthy and one didn’t. 2017 has one change in the starters, same with 2018. So far, 2018 has been injury riddled. Luckily one backup was an improvement but we’re still down two other starters. Going into the season we liked our right side. Ugh.

Well said. About the only position that can be argued has been ignored is Safety. And I agree with that one.

How is this not making sense?? We went into a season with Nate chandler and Byron bell as starters, we’ve also seen Byron bell  start way more games then he should have, still trying to replace the ghost of Jordan gross(hopefully moton is the answer). The secondary has constantly been neglected, no high capita spend on a safety in god knows when and just because we drafted 3 cbs in 2016 doesn’t mean that position has been getting lit up since gamble or Norman were wearing black and silver. Secondary, o line, and WR have been the top 3 reasons we’ve fail to make deep playoff runs in the past 5 seasons. With finally looking like the WR situation has been fixed. It’s been a no brainer

And the response was only about the OL. And provided numerous examples. Not two cherry- picked players from 4 years ago. Since then we have new OL at every position but one. Oher(then Kali), Norwell, Turner, Williams and Moton. With Larsen waiting on RK to retire. How could any of this be considered “ignoring” the OL?

I understand the frustration, but how are we supposed to plan for losing like five of our top nine offensive linemen for this week? I mean looking at our line in July it wasn't necessarily great but it had potential. Now losing Williams, Turner, Kalil, and various other guards and tackles since then, its easy to throw stones.  We can only keep so many around so when they all get hurt at the same time we are screwed. Drafting seven linemen a year won't matter if they all get hurt and never play. Its the fuggin even year curse.

Oher was catching lightning in a bottle, credit for that but are we really using the kalil signing as an example ?? The tackle position specifically went seasons throwing stop gaps or just reclamation projects at the position. Who’s cherry picking ? Tuner a good pick, moton as well, norwell for the time he was here and oher....Larsen idk what they think of him long term, you can’t look back at the past 5 seasons except one and feel that we put the best product at tackle on the field. If I’m correct cam is in the top 5 of most sacked qbs...

Oher was a good signing who got hurt. Can’t predict that. But it led to Kalil disaster. And as much as it was a bad choice, throwing 55M isn’t “ignoring” it. Ignorance, yes.....Not ignoring it. We have thrown stop-gaps since the OL settled in late 2014. That OL, swapping Oher for Bell, was set until Oher got hurt against MIN. From 2014-2016 we put 3 different 1st or 2nd team All-Pro OL on the field using a 3rd, a 4th and an UDFA. Who have we just thrown out there since then that wasn’t specifically because of injuries.

Not saying we were great at OT. Williams was there, what can you do. As I said at the time, signing Matt Kalil was a dark day in Panther history”. Wish they would have ignored him. And once you make a ridiculous decision like that, it’s hard to devote more resources to it. If Moton somehow becomes an effective LT,  everything changes for the better. Not saying your wrong performance wise. Or a few choices they made. Just that I don’t see how they ignored it.

2015.

Overcame Shula’s ineptitude to win 17 games, paving the way for the NFL’s 2nd best rushing attack while providing adequate protection the league MVP to operate a long-developing vertical pass attack.

That was a good unit. Played well (and often) together, good communication and chemistry.

    • You would hope so. I’m confused why the sports world seems split on Bryce when he’s obviously not working out.
    • So let’s do the reverse? Make everyone agree everything he does is a disaster? I also think the whole “gaslighting” is on the eye of the beholder. It went from he can’t avoid one single sack countered with he actually did that well Sunday (with data backing it) to a little breakdown of why he is so bad. People are going to have different opinions. I’m also not going to pretend this wasn’t happening Day one with this little QB.
    • All this great stuff he has done, how often does he do it?  I have it at three or four games out of 14 where he was very good and then you get a drive here or a series there where there are some good things. Here is the gaslight part: everyone has put him on a curve with his first year the baseline, neglecting to understand how bad he was then. Even if he comes back twice as good, where does that really leave him? 25th ranked or thereabouts.     He had so far to go, and still does, it is a Major ‘settle’ to accept his play as worthy of giving him our future.  You want to settle when the Bucs have Mayfield, and the Saints have overtaken us at QB? We will be third in the division at QB. That is good enough for y’all?
