Did anyone else think we were actually dumb enough to spike the ball on 4th down?

I thought it was 4th due to the broadcast when we spiked it and frankly after the way that game was going I was sure we lost the game by spiking it on 4th down... I temporarily lost my poo and started throwing things before realizing they called it a 1st...

Oh and also, DJ Moore is clutch. Huge catch on that drive.

We were lucky that was called a first. It's bad a team has to rush and down it without knowing if it was a first or not. Refs need to blow the whistle and measure if they aren't sure. Looked like the refs were still gathering after the spike talking about it.

CMC went down on the line so I was positive it was a first. I was pissed when the graphic said 4th and 1 since the ball was spotted a half a length over the yellow line. I know that line isn’t official but they aren’t usually that far off. I didn’t think we needed a measurement but was surprised they didn’t call for one.

Yeah, the pace of the game was too fast for "Booger" and his shoddy crew to keep up.  I guess rather than stop the clock to asses the spot, and piss the Giants off for giving us a free time out, they let the game play on.  I heard the TV announcer say first down so an official must have signaled it right away, giving Cam the green light to spike it.  If they indicated first down and we spiked the next play to stop the clock, I don't think the replay official could have buzzed down by then.

All that being said, I still lost my freaking mind when they called a running play with no time outs in that part of the field.  I get that CMC could have broken one and the Giants would have never seen a run play coming, but time being what it was, I lost my poo.

You know Rivera's dumb ass probably like "just like I drew it up".

I heard the announcers say 1st down but then they had the graphic still there and I got scared as poo before calming down and thinking no one could be that stupid then freaked out again when I realized we could be that stupid and it would definitely be the Panthers to do some poo like that.

It might have won the C'mon Man of the year award.

    • Bryce just didn't maximize Hunter Renfrow's skills. ***rant incoming*** But this isn't just about Bryce Young mistiming passes to Renfrow so bad that he's going to get Renfrow killed or hurt, this is also about incompetentence by Dave Canales. Renfrow can still play. He's putting DBs in a blender out there---making them play twister at the top of routes to keep up with him, and dumb Dave has the nerve to cut him. How about putting Hunter in the best position to help the damned offense by appreciating his skill set, DC? You're letting Bryce's apparent inability to make an accurate throw, or at least his timidity to push the ball down the damned field cloud your judgment and miscalculate talent---or maybe just miss on talent just as much as Bryce misses passes due to playing pussified football. It's fúcking unacceptable.  Speaking of misjudgment, I don't know if it's Dan Morgan or Canales, but Eijiro Evero is not the business at DC. I have said a few times that his scheme is not conducive to run-stopping efficiency. Hell, and after watching some clips of plays, now I absolutely know why. The gaps are at least half open before the play even fúcking starts. You are setting the opposition's RBs up for success with too much damned space at the line and in the second level. If our guys are taken out in these areas---at the line and in the second level---then the defense is screwed because it must rely on the safeties to cover too much ground to make the tackle. At least put Ransom in who is motivated to seek and destroy if you're going to effectively leave the safeties on an island.  And speaking of rookies, get our two new defensive ends more snaps to see if we can't generate more of a pass rush. For all the good the continued sorry display of defense that you're putting out for fan's to see (Ejiro, Dave and Dan), you may as well get the rookies generously involved. Fúck that money we gave second-rate (maybe second-rate) vets, we need a damned spark getting after the QB. Watch it, it's just another breakdown of the sh¡t we were subjected to last week. I say this with all respect: Fúck you, Dave! Fúck you, Dan! Learn how to run a fúcking franchise. Maximize the players, regardless of what you think you're supposed to do by the book. Cut the dead weight before another season is lost and fans lose interest in September. EE is "Ew!" Or for emphasis "EEw!" /end rant
    • But nobody is saying he is a good deep ball passer.  But the facts are since he's returned from his benching, he has been throwing downfield.  Whether you want to credit the scheme, Bryce himself, or whatever, he has been pushing it deep.  Not to any positive results mind you, but it has been happening.
