Guess what grade PFF gave Cam this week?

I’ve seen 2 touchdowns 2 ints and less than 200 yards passing be 85 PFF and in the 80s QBR before(Wilson)

Numbers don’t lie but people lie about numbers constantly— how they gear the equation for their metric, what they draw from for their stat etc.

We won the game convincingly, and Cam convincingly walked drive after drive into scoring range, and punched touchdowns and position for fieldgoals with ease,..

put that in your metric and smoke it.

It baffles me why anyone pays any attention PFF grades. Great source for stat aggreggation, pathetic for grades.

Like I said, it’s who and how that team uses what they determine in their metrics and to the weighting etc.

what if the receiver runs the wrong route and the quarterback throws where the receiver was supposed to be, and it’s an interception.

quarterback gets laid out, but the team knows what happened.

do they choose passes that were “on target” by a “batters box” around the receiver?

What if the play was a complete cluster but worked out like many are?

Who decides on that box and did they choose it the same way for each quarterback?

What weighting do they give a pass that’s on target but dropped, versus a pass that’s terrible but caught anyway?

stuff like that— the team knows— and if the team released metrics they designed to measure their own players against film and plays they know to be true maybe it could work.

everyone else just watches with the ignorant eye and throws pie or flamethrowers without knowing what really happened or was supposed to happen.

in short— metrics are flawed by biased people—

    • You don’t even need 1b because Tepper is the only one foolish enough to wheel that deal.    Player wise? Jake’s elbow. JR and Pep getting sideways, no Carruth, Cam’s shoulder, Luke’s concussions, it would be a long list of stuff. You can take it down to certain plays in games. Fox chasing 2 point conversions in the SB would be on my list. RMJr slipping at the end of that same game was not helpful.
    • Ultimately this just amounts to heavy revisionist history. I mean you aren't talking to someone that just popped out the womb a week ago. I was here all throughout the predraft process. The overwhelming majority of the fanbase felt like this was a fine situation and the best situation for a rookie QB to go to compared to Houston for example. The hype for Young and our "rockstar" staff was off the charts. No one could dare speak cautious skepticism of his abilities or they would be neg repped into oblivion. Only after he had one of statistical worst rookie seasons of the last 25 years did we get this narrative now that his rookie season actually shouldn't count. Complete malarkey if you ask me.
    • On the field? Since I guess it qualifies as multiple instances it might not count, but have the damn refs throw some flags on illegal hits to Cam's head in SB50. If that doesn't count, 1A. Cotchery caught it 1B. Kasey keeps that kickoff inbounds. Off the field? 1A. Team is sold to anyone but Tepper 1B. We have the patience not to mortgage the franchise on that Bryce trade. Stroudwpuldve been the better pick but he's not worth it either.
