PFF: McCaffrey has been great this season

Now nine games into his sophomore season in the NFL, Carolina Panthersrunning back Christian McCaffrey is answering the league’s call for a modern, every-down bell-cow in the backfield. The 5-foot-11, 205-pound Stanford product doesn’t resemble the bell-cows of old (e.g., Steven Jackson, Shaun Alexander, Jamal Lewis, Deuce McCallister), and he’s proven he doesn’t have to carry the load for an offense.

Garnering 19.7 touches per game – a top-10 figure among all NFL backs – McCaffrey has totaled 1,018 yards from scrimmage, seven touchdowns and 41 first downs. He’s also averaged a 5.76 yards per touch and forced 0.19 missed tackles per touch, ranking sixth and eighth, respectively, among backs with 120-plus touches this season. And he’s done so with a high percentage of his total touches coming not as a runner, but as a receiver, which is a testament to the modern, pass-happy era.

Pretty sure Cmac has shut up almost all his critics from last season ( his rookie year FFS ).  Dude is a baller.  I can see him getting around 1800-1900 yards from scrimmage by seasons end.  Probably add on another 6-8 TD's.  Well worth the pick with how we are using him in this type of offense.  With Cam, they at times look nearly unstoppable together.

He's a real special talent in the mold of an LT or M Faulk. My only problem is our use of him when we have CJ on the bench during certain situations.

Yeah he’s a complete monster but having him play 100% of the snaps is just silly. CJ is capable as well, let McC rest a bit and pound CJ up the middle.

Hes been doing great so far. If I had to guess his final stats will be something like 1050 rushing 700 receiving

What I've been impressed with the most this season is he seems a lot more powerful and his running vision is a lot better, hes barely hesitating at all and just hitting holes, and carrying people for extra yardage. He's also churning out TDs consistently in the past few games.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
