WR effeciency comparison statistical snapshot (WRECSS)

MHS831

Recommended Posts

Funchess:  41 receptions, 516 yards, 3 TDs, targeted 68 times (catching 60% of balls targeted)

Moore: 38 receptions, 565 yards, 2 TDs, targeted 48 times (catching a whopping 79% of balls targeted toward #12)

Wright has 26 receptions on 36 targets (catching 72% of targets) for 257 yards-he has nearly doubled his production from last season in Minnesota in just 11 games.

Samuel  has 4 TDs, 19 receptions for 196 yards on 25 targets (catching 76% of targets).   Yes, he needs more attention.

Smith has 171 yards and has caught 16 passes of the 27 targeted to him (59%).

ANALYSIS:  You have to catch the ball opposed to dropping the ball....Moore is the #1 WR....We can shed Funchess and Smith, draft a WR, and we would improve next year...I  made up the WRECSS thing to make this sound technical.

Four td’s on 19 catches doesn’t fit into Ron’s overall offensive scheme... keep Ron and get rid of Samuel

Probably what they are thinking---Samuel as 4 TDs In what, 7 games?  The kid is getting better and better.  Moore and Samuel could be dangerous, with Wright as the #3.

byrd is still on this team

I thought you spell his name Byrd IR. He is a fifth/sixth WR and PR.  He is not really part of the offense. The guy is hurt a lot and he is nothing special. He had to leave the Seahawks game with an injury.

To put a mind blowing spin on these stats, if Curtis Samuel had enough targets to be considered on the current stat charts (right now it's 30 targets minimum), Carolina would have three of the top 20 receivers in the NFL in terms of catch rates per target.

Here's the top 20 right now:

Also, note how much DJ Moore scares opponents . . . with an average cushion of 6.7 yards (11th in the NFL).
