The big "if"

Mr. Scot

I don't know if there are still people hoping for us to make the playoffs. Doubt anyone at all is expecting it.

(FYI if you are, you'll need to cheer real hard for the lowly Lions to beat the resurgent Vikings this weekend; Vikes win and we're officially out)

But let's say the craziness happens...

Cam Newton is not being placed on IR, which would mean he'd be available.

Would you send Newton out on the field for a playoff game?

No

1. If we are in the playoffs, that means Heinkie has won us 2 straight.

2. This seasons and a 6 seed playoff spot isnt worth throwing Cam out at Chicago only for Mack to nail Cams coffin.

Sit him, let him heal

Side questions going back to the OP:

Who on here believes we can still make the playoffs?

Regardless of outcome, who wants to see us make the playoffs?

I don't believe we can still make the playoffs... but I do absolutely want to make the playoffs.  I think the draft seed difference is going to end up being negligible.

If we win the next two because of Heinicke to any degree I’d keep riding him. If he’s truly terrible but we win despite him because of McC or defense, then I’d consider Cam. Cam’s not gonna heal enough in 2 weeks to be better than a QB with a healthy arm but his playoff experience comes into play if we actually want to try to win it all if we somehow got in. But if we get in and think no chance we win it all then regardless of how Heinicke looks you keep Cam on the sideline.

I still want to see us make the playoffs. I’m not one to wish we lose for the sake of a draft pick. I’m behind Taylor and hopes he shows out. In two weeks, this could be the end of a lot of my favs career and I want to see them as long as possible plus we would have to wait another 9 months to see us in action again. I don’t want to wish time away

No, no, no.

This isn't a Foles type situation. One and done in the playoffs means NOTHING for this team except a lower draft pick.

I'd find more happiness getting top 10 picks and beating teams with the players we get from that for years to come than winning two more games this year.

All this said, I don't think there is any chance.

    • So answer the question. Why did Chark and Hurst have the same metrics (go look them up, I did... and one was actually worse in LA) with Justin Herbert? Why did Mingo have the same metrics with Dak? You're right, there is a common denominator, just not the one you're trying to make.  Why could DJ Moore get open with Bridgewater, Allen, Cam 2.0, Darnold, Baker, Williams, Bagent? I'll answer the question for you - because he is a good WR unlike Chark/Hurst/Mingo.
    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
